Default Seat Heater Not Working

Hi Guys,

Now its gettiong real cold here so for the first itme I tried the seat heater but they aren't working. Neither driver or passenger seats warm up. The lights on the buttons do come on but its looking like no current is being sent back to the seats.

I checked the fuse (Nr 24) and it is OK. Anyone have a diagram of the seat heating circuit, what components make up the assembly and their location? I'm going to assume that the switches regulate a relay so that the high current goes directly to the seats and not the switches. And I'm going to assume that there is a separate relay for each seat to allow independent operation. And since neither seat gets warm I'm going to assume an interruption ahead of the relays.

Thanks!
-George-

The "Heated Seat Module" is part of the heated seat switch assembly :

The heated seat module is in the center of the dash according to this document.
Fifth row down in the third section.
Which puts in at the switch location.

Yes, the service manual shows a picture of it in the panel between the 2 heated seat switches .....

BTW Dave, I have figured out that the major difference between you and me is that I incorrectly make the assumption that members here are SMART ( since they bought a Crossfire ), while you seem to operate on the principle that everyone is STUPID.
You are probably correct.

Hmmm. OK, so basically this module is located in the console plenum right behind the row of switches? Pull out the panel with the switches and it should be visible? Now I just gotta track down one of these modules, I guess........

Why do you assume that the module is the problem? Maybe it is but I'd want to know for sure before I replaced it and found out it was something else.
Maybe the problem is much simpler. Does any power get through to the heater wires?
Does any power get to the module.
Look for the faulty part before making assumptions.

You are basically correct, however I do not have any technical data on the electrical system of this car. I have not been successful obtaining wiring diagrams which would be helpful and eliminate guesswork. Even information showing which wire colors, etc are part of the circuit....

Anyone have a source where I can down load this?

I have repaired the seat heater 4 times.
Probably burnt the connectors in the seat....

You mean the plug that the wiring harness connects to of internally inside the seat? I've only had this car since July and I bought it with 92K on the clock. But who knows, the PO may have used the heater daily.

Both seats don't work.........

Well, the thin wire gets burnt at the ends and make the connections go bad at 4 different places. Buy the repair kits and resolder it. Easy peasy .. (I wish. takes time. 1½ hrs minimum a seat)

Go to this section 8G - 28 in the 2005 Service Manual, or the equivalent in the 2004 manual.
You can download both manuals and a lot of other nice info from this site.(click)
