Battery questions
In the industrial park where I work/live there is an Interstate battery distributor.
I stopped by to simply ask if there would be any problem replacing the battery when the time came. I assumed it was original since it was a German battery. The fellow pealed back a sticker and found it was replaced in 04/13. Cool.
He mentioned there should be a vent connected to it when I mentioned that someone had commented about battery acid eating through a HVAC hose or covering. Which side should the L nipple and hose go or does it matter? And if the forward side, why not have the hose long enough to empty on to the ground so no eating of hoses?
He mentioned that the cable where the white arrow is pointing is for something aftermarket. Assuming he is correct what possibly could it be? Yes, it has the stock head unit.
Also what does the somewhat smaller red cable go to?
I'm through with questions, but wanted to comment that the German car companies have gone to all square batteries rather than the rounded corner ones. He and I assume any other Interstate Battery place is doing the same,. He has 13 of the rounded corner batteries in stock and is offering them with a good discount. If you can live with a green battery, and need one, it would be a good time to seek out a distributor. This one certainly caters to drive in customers.
FWIW: German car manufacturers use only batteries that are as wide as they are tall. Bigger ones simply get longer.

The arrow points to a negatvie lead that was cut. I'd disconnect it and toss it. Im assuming that red cable is for an aftermarket amp, although it should have an inline fuse. You would have to see if it runs to the stock location to verify. If it is i would recommend installing an inline fuse to it.
I'm not even sure where the stock amps are. Where would someone stash another one? It's not in the right side door. i've not checked the left door yet.
