Default Oe Last Wire Question

I replaced the rear subs and used the Py;e Subs recommended by several members on this forum. When I installed the new speakers there were four speaker wires for the original subs. A black and red pair on one side and a green and whitish/brown or tan wire on the other side. This pairing was for each sub, making a total of 8 wires. I am talking about the wires with the spade connectors that connect to the actual speakers.

I placed the black wire spade on the ground and red on the positive on one side. For the green and whitish, I placed the green on the negative and the whitish on the positive. Was I correct in assuming the green spade wire is negative and white positive.

Rmember I am talking about the 4 spade connector wires for each sub, whether original or otherwise.

I know everyone is going to point me to the service manual and I have studied that closely. It nobly directs me as to what wires run from the subs t the amp, and I have a good handle on that. I just need to know where the spade wires go in connecting the actual subs. I am confident that the black is ground and red is negative on one pairing but the green and whitish or tan pairing has me baffled as to which is the negative and positive in the pairing

With this I will have completed my complete aftermarket audio install---thank goodness
