Unusual position of our sub woofer speakers

I never saw the position of our subs behind our seats until today
I have asked others and they confirmed with pics the same find in their Crossfires
Yup this is how they are mounted in all our Crossfires
Doesn't make much sense to me

From experience, I know of quite a few engineers approved/designed/built sets of plans (that) did not, does not, and never will, make sense.
