I'm so pissed now, i just may take it for a long trip on a short pier. I just got my 05' roadster, the dealer put in the factory nav radio today...now when i park, it shows "Phone" when i drive, it plays radio but switched all the time to phone while muting the radio. Then when i turn it off, it turns on and off by itself. I have a BA in electronics/physics, taught rocket science for DOD... The dealer is clueless. Did they hook up the speed wire to the phone input? I thought these didn't have a phone input. I may buy a Honda.

 

The device is ok? If there is something wrong on the circuit board ... Did you let the dealer check it on an other car?

 

don't know...they had my car 2.5 days clueless.

 

I called Chrysler help line...not informed at all. I told the dealer to pull it as I suspected the radio was getting a logic 1 to the phone input that should be a logic 0. Dealer finally call 5 star help and the answer was two wires were crossed, providing a logic 1 to the input... Radio works great...

 

Good to hear that it works now. But if the problem was the phone input = 1, how can the radio turn on and off itself like you described in the first post? Or is it a normal feature when radio is off and a call comes in that the radio turns on by itself?

 

If you have a phone hooked up to the radio it will turn on when you get a call.

 

Spooky right? Don't have a diagram of the circuits, but maybe a ground was being applied turning it on and off. Chrysler 5 Star service had known about this - but the dealer was clueless.

 

I was going to go to New Orleans on Saturday, Sept.17 for a week long vacation to celebrate my birthday on the 18th. I had rented a Chrysler 300, booked a week at the Hotel Monaco, had dinner reservations at most of the nicer restaurants. Was going to Baton Rouge to meet the girlfriends parents, visit Avery Island and tour the Tabasco factory, go to a Cajun food festival...heavy sigh...

All is not lost, after getting my oil changed and my 12,000 mile check-up, we're going to hop in the car and head south ending up in Baton Rouge. We'll probably hit Memphis, Nashville, Graceland and wherever else we decide to stop.
