PIONEER to the rescue
Actually the stock radio sounded pretty good to my old ears BUT...
I just had to mess with it...
Here are a couple of pics of REDCROSS' new "TUNE BOX"!!!
PIONEER DEH-P9600MP WITH PIONEER GEX-P910XM XM RADIO.
BTW: the hocky puck is mounted between the roll bars.

I skip between 71, 74 and 150 as my favorites.
Yes, I think this deck is 98% what I desired.
PIONEER DEH-P9600MP loses 1% for not having a green readout and 1% for an ALMOST exact match on the silver.
BUT...I love it and with the JAZZ setting and LOUD kicked in it does sound better than the stock radio and the PRO-XM installation was the MAIN motivation.
ROADYs are kewl, BUT this is the "JIMMY"!
Anything more and (IMHO) I think it would have been overkill.
No I don't have a sound clip...you will just have to take my word for it.

Did you have to bypass your factory amp. I was told that I had to but the places that told me I had to also told me they never seen a Crossfire in person before. So I spent alot of money and time to replace everything. thanks.

I have the same head unit but the older model in my car, and you can change the button illumination, from blue green red (i think) but the screen stays the same Blue OEM!
I guess you know this but just in case i thought you might want to know.
I just had a Pioneer DEH-P770MP with ipod controller installed and I am happy with the sound and the deck blends in with the dash nicely. One problem I encountered (or was told by the installer) was that the aftermarket deck could not power the factory subwoofer. I am not an expert on car audio but this seemed a bit strange. Has anyone else encountered this problem and have you found a work around?

Did the installer know that the x fire had an amp built in, if so did he say that they were not compatible?
Sorry for such a long time to respond. Didn't get an email telling me of any responses!!!
My wiring was Plug and Play!!! And EVERYTHING works!!!
Radio and wiring came from Crutchfield.
Circuit City is another source.
Wiring kits plug into new radio and (on the other end) plug into the factory wiring. No cutting/splicing/modifications required!!!

Wow, I LOVE that player!!! I'm really like how it folds out too. If I wasn't leasing my Crossfire, I would get that in a heart beat. Hopefully I will be able to buy my Crossfire after it's lease is over in a year (and when I graduate college).
i put a pioneer deh4800mp in my xf yesterday. remember to use the scosche vw101 and switch the yellow and red wires. also remember to hook the blue/white wire of the aftermarket harness to the blue wire on the scosche. the factory amp wont work without the remote wire hooked up.
mine works great and it has green illumination. a great match.
