Default Seat bottom heater doesn't work...

Just recently the heater on my seat bottom is not working. The seat back heater works great, but not the seat bottom heater.

Is there a separate fuse for the bottom heater from the back one?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Unfortunately there is only one fuse for the whole she-bang. If the back works but not the bottom you're probably going to need to go see the dealer and get it fixed under warranty.

Yes, bobs is right. Seeing the dealer is the only way!

Good luck and a warm a$$ soon.

Ya you're going to have to go to the dealer and wait a few months while they get a new one from Germany. I've had my car for 3 years and this is the third time replacing it. Every winter! Hopefully it will get fixed this time because no more warrantee and it about a $700 fix each time. Oh the seat bottom is on backorder again!

Darn my driver bottom just went out. I am sure the dealer will want to "LOOK" at it before ordering parts. Ugh I hate going to the dealer.

Cool Re: Seat bottom heater doesn't work...

You are not alone...my drivers seat does not work at all and only the back on the passenger seat. I will be taking a trip to the dealer on Monday.

Thumbs down Re: Seat bottom heater doesn't work...

Thanks for all of the replies. Seems like this is a defect that should be fixed and covered by D-C!!!

just got mine done here in the uk had to wait 6 weeks for one from germany then they sent the wrong one had to wait another month.
they scratched the crossfire sill protector. apparently a few have had that happen so make sure you show the dealer and have him verify it is not scratched before you have the work done.

If it will cost $700 plus to fix this problem (out of warrenty). Has anyone looked into products from: http://www.heatedseat.com? The price seems very well reasonable. I have a 2005 base coupe without heated seats (almost a week old). I am considering this product since I live in New Jersey. Any comments?

wait till your warrenty runs out would be my advice as you never know what is around the corner.

Unhappy Re: Seat bottom heater doesn't work...

I feel jinxed! My driver side bottom seat heater just went up as well! Does anyone know how long the warranty is for this item?

Are they replacing the whole seat or just the heater element? My bottom hasn't worked in a while, but I like it that way. I have back problems and leave the heater on most of the time. I like it with just the back hot.

In my case they are replacing both seats, backs and bottoms.

Not sure about the back but the bottom is 2 elements. 1 is attached to the foam and the other attached to the leather. So if the replace both, you get a new seat except for the metal frame. The only thing I don't like is on the new seat bottom leather is it is not tucked in under the front lip. The tech and I had an argument regarding why the leather wasn't tucked under the lip in the front and he kept telling me that is the way the new seats are coming in. If true it looks like Chrysler is trying to save money on all the new seats. Mine has been replaced 3 times, (every winter when I try the heater in doesn't work) POOR DESIGN!!!
Thinking about going to Mercedes and see if they know anything.

neither of my seats work... upper or lower... the dealer wants to replace the heated seat "control module" (behind dash buttons) first. then will access from there. we'll see.
