New member thinking of getting a X-Fire Coupe
Hello All,
I am thinking of getting a X-Fire Coupe but am a little put off by the "no spare" wheel as I live in outer suburbs of Melbourne and the nearest dealership is about 60 kms away. Did anyone experience any problems if they had a flat?
Also, currently I have a MB C200 & a Lexus IS300, do you think getting the Coupe is a good choice in terms of drivability? I always wanted a 2-seater Coupe, but am now tossing about the X-Fire, 350Z and RX-8. I really like the style of the Cross though. Comments??
Anyway, will be shopping around when I get back to Melb as I am in Japan atm. Had a test drive one here in Japan (LHD), it felt different...
Cheers.

YoungCF, don't let the fact that the XF doesn't have a spare tire sway your decision to buy one. These cars are just to much fun not to have around.
If the spare tire issue is still that important to you, you could always pick up a spare out of a wrecked Mercedes SLK (same lug pattern) and throw it in the back of your new Crossfire. Heck, maybe the one out of your C200 would even fit. Do some research. Good Luck.

I wouldn't take that advice as you'd have to fill the boot with both an 18" and a 19" spare for the front and back. Get a can of tyre weld that will patch it up until you get to the dealer.
Mate, I too live in melbourne outer eastern suburbs also about 28 km from cbd ... don't let the "no spare tyre scenario put you off". I have now had this car for the last 2 months and am loving every minute of it. I was tossing up between the z4 and the 350, if you are after style and individuality this is the car... Has unique character!

Much appreciated of the comments. It got me thinking seriously about getting one. Thanks for the tips on the SLK spare!
It seems like you all love yours! I too am getting excited about owning one...
Too bad it will have to be 4 to 5 months time as I am stuck out here in Japan finishing off a project...
I will keep you all posted.
Thanks!

youngcf,
Don't worry about the "no spare". You have Chrysler Care (roadside assist) while the car is under warranty. After that join the RACV.
Front tyres are available ex-stock from many tyre outlets and the rears are, at worst, next day delivery.
Regards.
PS - Take the sunset helicopter tour of Tokyo before you leave Japan.

Don't worry about the 350Z and the RX8 - they're a dime a dozen.
As for the flat tyre issue, the can will fix it well enough so you don't get stuck.
When was the last time you had a flat so severe that couldn't be driven to the closest tyre place to be repaired anyway?
