Default Heated seats

Our 2005 roadster had all of the seat heaters replaced unnder extended warranty in 2009. Now the passenger side cushion heater has stopped working. The local dealer want $600 and 6 - 8 weeks to replace it. Looking at the web site it appears this is a common problem. The Mercedes dealer can supply a seat heater for the SLK320 in 2 weeks for $380 plus fitting but he is not sure it is the same and of course will not take it back. In the US they are using aftermarket heaters. Can anyone help with advice.

Both options seem too pricey. I'd try aftermarket as well - usually found at your detail/stereo/wheels/accessories shop. Replacing the heater itself and using the existing wiring shouldn't be such a big deal. Lots of these accessory shops do it all of the time.
