Daveesrt6 , does the 275/35/19 tyres vary the speedo reading very much. although the crossfire rides pretty good. for long distance work an improvement on ride would, for me, be an advantage, as I am close to needing new rear tyres . what brand did you choose? I was thinking along the Hancook brand. Saltiga

I have had
Yokohama
good year f1 sport 285/35
Gmax 275/35
Dws 285/35
I am in mine 2-4 hours twice a week for work.
Depends what you want the tires for, summer only, heavy rain, winter, light snow etc.
The dws might do a hair better in snow but the Gmax was better in rain, and I liked the fact that I could unmount and remount on other rim so the inside was on the outside, had over 30k miles on them when I got the new dws.
Re: tyres
Thanks for the info. as I live in Adelaide South Australia the chance of snow is about the same odds as me flying to the moon, so mainly dry weather tyres would be the go, As its used as a weekender I choose the weather to be dry, At the moment I am only managing about 6k per year, so at 30k wear for tyres gives me 5 , probably enough time to arrange a trip to the moon!!! Re: tyres
As for the tires themselves, It is crappy cold weather here, and nothing hooks up well. They seem fine to drive on, not excessively noisy. I haven't been in standing snow yet to test that, but rain seems fine.
Re: tyres
That is what I just got on the rear. I didn't do much looking, I had a sidewall blowout after hitting something unknown, and I limped to a local tire shop. That was the best option they carried. I am concerned about the 50K mile warranty though. Their paperwork didn't mention it, but most places say something like "50,000 mile warranty, ½ that if front and rear are different sizes" or something like that indicating they will only be on the rear and getting worn faster. My question would be, do I get a 75,000 mile warranty on the fronts?

Re: tyres
That is my hope, assuming I need to worry about it in the first place, who knows what I will be driving 20,000 more miles from now. I have been looking at 2005+ SLKs from info I stumbled across, and they are really starting to get under my skin. Only about 1 in 10 is a 6 speed (on the SLK350)
