May 8th Meet Information - Canadian Transportation Museum
May 8th Meet Information - Canadian Transportation Museum
Our visit to the Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village is confirmed for Saturday, May 8th, 2010. Rain or Shine. For those wanting to do more, the location also includes The Village. There is a $6 admission price to the Museum.
The Museum is located in Kingsville, Southwestern Ontario. 2.5 Hrs from Woodstock.
Museum staff are suggesting we need 2.5 hrs to enjoy everything there is to see. For those interested, their is a Murder Mystery theatre, taking place in the evening at the Heritage Village.
Because of the long distance some of us will be driving, you might want to consider staying over night and returning home the following morning. My friend and I will be staying overnight, having dinner in Kingsville or Leamington, then searching out a local pub for Saturday evening!
We will meet just off Hwy#401, Exit #216 at Tim Hortons, 10 Samnah Cres. Ingersoll, N5C 3J7 at 10 a.m. and leave as a convoy at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Also at this location is a brand new Chrysler dealership and Sunoco Gas Station. After a one hour trip on Hwy#401, we will be exiting at exit #77 (Comber) where we will stop at a Tim Hortons for a very quick break, stretch of legs, washrooms. The rest of the trip is scenic secondary roads. This will have us arriving at the Museum just before 1p.m. at which time we can have lunch at a 50's style diner located at the same location. When we are ready, we will be given a guided tour. The Museum closes at 4p.m.
The first 10 Crossfires to arrive at Tim Hortons will receive a gift bag of goodies including a Sunoco gas voucher!!!

Are most of you coming alone or bringing spouses?? Anyone bringing a child aged between 10 & 13?
The reason I ask is my wife can't make it but one of my boys will most likely come along. But not too sure if I can keep him stimulated all day.

ps The handle bar grip ends are already worn off from hitting the pavement but I should file em down as their looking mighty jagged.

BTW, for anyone reading this thread and coming along on Saturday, this is a good excuse to check your fluid levels, check tire pressures and do a walk-around and check all the bulbs.
I have been keepin track of the weather forecast on-line and it seems to be getting better. For the Leamington area as I write this, they are calling for 40% chance of scattered showers for Saturday. Sunday, no rain. I'm really hoping the weather co-operates so the Roadster folks can put their ragtop down if desired...

Or you could slip a jimmy down the door and release the lock yourself.
Make the old guy an offer on the car, lots of ways to fix this problem.

Knew there was likelihood of rain for Saturday but I just checked the Weather Network and now a 90 percent chance of rain and they've thrown in some snow for my area. I haven't even driven the car on wet roads, not to mention snow. Hell I can't keep the rear end from getting loose on dry pavement. I should have moved to Florida to be with the car and not shipped it up here.

likelihood of rain for Saturday
Having said that, the way I see the weather playing out, is folks leaving the GTA area early Saturday morning will likely experience some light rain. Less then 1mm. Looking at the weather map, shows all precipitation moving north above Hwy #403 (I'm using #403) and moving eastward. We will be travelling southwest. I'm thinking we will have light drizzle when travelling midday through Leamington and likely when arriving at the Museum, but clearing as the afternoon rolls by. Saturday evening into Sunday is calling for cool, clear skies in the Leamington area.
The weather folks have been so far off lately (water cooler chat around the office) that who knows what we are going to get, regardless, I have been doing this kind of thing for years and the days always seem to work out in the end.
