Cool Re: * Upsolute chip Groupbuy *

Forgive my ignorance; but the new way means what. Goiing through some other electrical port rather than directly through the ECU??? Not quite sure what you mean.
Why is this any more beneficial?

Every car now has a OBD2 port or a plug which you can hook up a computer for diagnostic checkups and other use. Most cars have it under the dash on the driver side. By hooking up to the OBD2 port, it can communicate with the ECU and we have the hardware to reflash the ECU through the port now.

Some customers would prefer not to have their ECU opened up or have the chip unsoldered and reprogrammed and soldered back on. The OBD2 solution is the way to go if customer prefer nothing to be touch other than the program.

Hope this clear things up.
Gary

Gary:
Doesn't this mean that you just re-program our old chip? If so, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to do as we wouldn't need to purchase the new chip?

Bob G, you are essentially paying a license for their reprogramming ... they charge what the market will bear.

Even if we solder it in, we reprogram the same factory chip and solder it back in, so basically youare just paying for the program. It will cost the same either you want it done the soldered way or OBD. As AlvinByars said, the cost is basically for the licence for the software.

We are still having a special for the Crossfires right now for $500 installed.

Hey Gary... how are we looking for the group buy etc... I am wondering as I just got brought the car out of storageand plan tobe in Toronto in June or July On my way Home to BC... Perfect for me obviously would be to cruise in at 160kmh and out at 180 if ya get my drift... Any way... the onboard reprogram is more interesting to me... no chance of heat damage if **** goes wrong, and I know it takes a month for an Oil Change... A New chip could be years!!!!

I can arrange a special pricing or groupbuy pricing in June or July if there's enough car. I just had a groupbuy organized this month and not much interest for the Crossfire, so basically I did all Mercedes for it. I have to see how many cars are interested in being done within a week or so period.
