Default Paint peeling off

I have my Crossfire coupe since last august '04 and now at 13,000 KM (8,000 miles) and I love it.

I had a few minor problems like seat heater bottom not working on driver side. It's worth $1,004...

I have recently noticed that the paint is peeling off at the bottom rear of each tires. Anyone experiencing the same problem ??

The paint is peeling off the bottom body panels just behind the four tires. Anyone experienced the problem?? I went to the dealer and they told me I should have mudguard installed... I think these guys don't have a clue what beauty is...

No a problem here; I think it is natural to get a few stone chips in the paint down in that area.
Is it the clear coat that is just peeling or the paint down to the primer/metal?

No problem here yet! Do you travel on a lot of dirt roads?

It is right down to thee metal. I went to the dealer and they told me to wait in the spring and they will have the whole area repainted. I am sure that even after the repainting, the same problem will come back. I have heard that 3M makes a clear protective material that you install on the panels and it protects against small rocks. It might be the solution. As for traveling dirt roads, I almost never have to do it.

Centaurv:
Almost sounds like a primer issue. Is anyone else finding this paint peeling problem? You did buy it new right, so there is no chance it was after market painted? Also, it is actually peeling not just chipping? It deffinetly should not peel off! That's a bad paint job! Can you post a picture?

I had exactly the same problem... on both rear wheel wells. I had them repainted, and two weeks later had to drive a few kms on a gravel road (ick!)... and the same thing happened again, not surprisingly. I never should have taken the car on that trip but I didn't know that the highway was going to be under construction. So I'd like to find a solution as well, for those times when you have to occasionally drive over a gravel road without going at a snail's pace.

I had the 3M Plastic tape on a week after the paint job. So far after more than 6 months everything is ok and no more peeling off.

hey!!! the paint peeling may be from the high amount of winter road salt you probably have in canada.
