The Golden Rule
I went to my last show of the year and had the worst experience of my short 2 year career with the Xfire. I was in Import class and a guy with a Lambourghini Countach parked next to me and put his ID sheet in the window. It said 1990 Countach, etc. I took a closer look and noticed that the finish was not up to Lambo standards, then noticed it was 4/5 the size. Turned out it was a kit car with a Chevy crate motor on a hand built tube chasis. So when I questioned the guy about trying to pass it off as the real deal, he refused to open the hatch to display the motor, he became very offensive. I told him that the Golden Rule is you don't lie about your car and pointed out the Cobra replicas all said Factory Five replica, etc. Then his entire family {father and three brothers} all came over in intervals and gave me crap about me being in the wrong class, being a Chrysler with a MB motor. When I explained that they are essentially MB with AMG engine built in Germany, they told me I was full of ****, thus displaying their collective ignorance, and continued to utter ignorant remarks every time I was near one of them. To make matters worse they didn't even know how to pronounce Countach correctly. Thus proving one of my theories, you CAN get a drivers license without having a functional central nervous system.

i get this reaction all the time at shows lol people are like why does he have mercedes emblems on the engine cover and rims and i tell them and they still dont get it or get angry and act like im stupid just shows how uneducated most people are in the car community
Well. I too have been in the middle of these discussions while in a show. I finally added articles and car magazines to the 2 cars I show. I won't even get out of my lawn chair any more. Took home trophies last couple shows since then. Didn't before.
I hear the best kit car in show award you got is a real eye popper.
I posted a picture of the caravan heading to the Dragon last week on FB. I had some guy (former friend of my wife) just lay into me about how the Crossfire was a piece of crap and this and that. He was completely clueless about the car, etc., and just whooping up how his 2002 Mustang GT would just slaughter me. Just goes to show there are no shortage of idiots in this world.

Evan it's always the Mustang masses that want to give my car a try. I don't think they have heard about the SRT 6. I usually don't bother but if the time and place is right I will open up the cut outs and see if they can hear that.
I am beginning to think that ignorance is becoming an epidemic, it's so widespread, every where there are Crossfires there is stupidity nearby. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in the crusade to educate the masses about our Crossfires but I think the 'stangers are hopeless unless they have their doors blown off by a Xfire. With our small numbers, I think that we more than hold our own on the road, at the track and in the shows, good going guys. It's our secret, We know!!!!

I have few out at work too , it kind funny out 500 cars there be 50 mustangs 30 the same color , but now that I have had Crossfire more then 8yrs most know about what it is under hood , even had few of the older guys say it still best looking car in parking lot , it funny to me that people say they are car guys and fact do not know anymore about other cars ,one sided , was at car show last weekend I always ask a lot ? about other cars and most car guys willing to tell me all about there cars ,most have a lot ? about Crossfire but just few over last few yrs become stupid about the Crossfire , will I guess , you can:t fix stupid LOL
We typically get some flap from folks attending the Euro Auto Festival. Folks don't understand why our Crossfires are on the showfield. Surprising how many folks don't recall the days of Chrysler ownership by Mercedes-Benz. We're always explaining the history behind the Crossfire. Very few know that the Crossfire was assembled by Karmann Manufacturing at their facility in Osnabruck, Germany.

The reason that it's always the Mustang masses is because (in my opinion) they are the most purchased (and affordable) sport type car, lately. Heck, around here, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Mustang - they are becoming more common than Hondas (any model) or mini vans!
