Default Tips for Winning Car Shows?

I am wondering, for those who have won with your Crossfire at Car Shows, do you have any tips or advice for showing up the competition?

Is your car free of big scratches, hazed headlights, wheel damage, etc? If so, you are good to go, just give it a good cleaning and wax job, make sure the black rubber trim is black, clean the interior and make sure you have a nice fire extinguisher. (some shows require them) Pick your class, there is usually a choice, import, stock Mopar, special interest and have a good time. You can always do a set of custom wheels, some engine bay dress up, some interior mods. You are usually allowed 3 mods and still be considered stock.

LOL George. I considered that, but I want to bring both and I *know* #5 will outshine my Belle Bleu every time. I really want to win with Belle Bleu, so I am not sure what I am going to do about that. Haha. I guess I'll get it figured out.

Thanks Jim for the advice. That is all good advice. I have been working on these things and the only thing I have left is the headlights. I plan to work on those this week.

Good luck with your shows, don't get discouraged if you don't win right away. Make a small story board to tell people about your car and be prepared to talk about it. Learn all you can about it.

The best way to win at a car show is to get into the clique that runs its, they look after themselves and the buddies.
Many clubs are run by cliques, no good ideas unless it is one of theirs, members money spent on their expenses with little oversight.

Thanks OneHundred80. I have heard this before, so it must be true. For the Mopar Show in New Orleans, they have a get-together the Friday night before the show. I plan to attend the Friday night event for just this reason. I joined the club also. Oh, and well we are actually friends with one of the judges... A well-known Mopar Collector. I think being friends with one of the judges helped both of our NA's place in the Top 100 among 200 gorgeous classic Mopars and modern Mopars.

I want a trophy though, lol.

I have a trophy you can have. Should have told me and I would have left it with Max.
( I LOVE winning, I HATE trophys )

Thanks George, I appreciate that very much. But, I want a trophy for Belle Bleu that she won herself. A trophy without bragging rights is not worth too much.

Why do you hate trophys? They are a visual representation of the "win" that you earned.

A lot of those trophys are pretty tacky, my wife would not look at my darts trophys. I ditched them after retrieving them from the crawl space. I only kept a few nice ones.

Yes, trophies are dust collectors.
I always considered them somewhat pretentious.
On the other hand, I have no problem with award plaques, you can hang them on the wall out of the way.

That makes sense. I've never won a trophy, so I wouldn't know if any are tacky.

I hope that when I win won, it will be one I would be happy to showcase.

I can agree with them being dust collectors and they certainly take up more space, but they sure are pretty.

Pretentious? What about them makes them pretentious? If you won them, shouldn't you be proud to display them? Please excuse my lack of familiarity about the way Car Shows work and are run. I am asking lots of questions because I want to learn the most I can about the Car Show arena.

Please, do not let my opinion influence you. It is just that, my opinion.
Perhaps pretentious was the wrong word, I just don't care for trophies, let's leave it at that.

My wife made me toss out my Oscars, the Nobel prize and the Pulitzer prize for excellence in forum posts, she said they just did not blend in with her figurines.
She said it was either them or her that went, I tried but she did not fit in the trash can.

I thought you would have the Stanley Cup too. Don't toss that.

I can not remember when a Canadian team last won that cup. We should just pick up the case of beer and just go home.
