Wife & I took our 2016 VW Beetle Dune Hatchback to Maggie Valley, NC to attend the VW car show held there on 09/16. This was the 2nd year that we attended. Last year, the Dune Beetle won Club Choice - Water Cooled. This year, our car won Best Engine - Water Cooled. Also got $50 cash with each trophy. Quite a show. (Note: Pictures below are from our arrival at showfield on Friday. Not that many cars arrive on Friday until later in the day to early evening. Actual Car Show is Saturday.

Car and Driver loves this car…….Sandstorm Yellow paint and a matching hue accents the dash and the door panels; the orangey color highlights the steering wheel and the gauges regardless of the exterior paint.
Took me awhile to locate one in the Sandstorm Yellow color. Dune Beetle also came in White & Black. Gotta agree the Sandstorm Yellow color really grabs an audience. Found this one as a lease turn-in in 2019 at a Chevrolet dealer in Tampa, FL. Price was reasonable (Chevy dealer wanting to sell a VW car). Closed the deal while attending a project review meeting with a client in Syracuse, NY, transferred bank funds, flew down to Tampa after project meeting ended on Friday to take ownership of car & drove it back home to SC. It's the wife's car and she was thrilled I found it.
Dedwards0323…….your nifty Sandstorm Yellow VW caught my eye because it took me of back to 1974, when I traded in a mechanical disaster MGB for something a bit more economical and fit the bill for a commuter car. It was the Sun Bug, which dressed up the standard Beetle or Super Beetle with special gold paint, sun roof of course, and a special badge on the rear, unique shift ****, and even a rosewood dash. It traveled more than 160,000 miles while accumulating road salt galore until its demise.
