"What can a Sprint Booster do for me? Most 2000-up model cars no longer use the conventional throttle cable and have replaced it with an ECM (Electronic Control Module) designed to translate how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic instruction to provide power to the wheels.
The ETC (Electronic Throttle Control), otherwise known as "Drive-By-Wire", causes a delayed response and subdues acceleration, creating problems in situations such as quick gear changes, pulling into traffic, passing other vehicles and up-hill starts.
The Sprint Booster Power Converter eliminates this delayed throttle response and provides immediate on-tap acceleration whenever the driver demands it! Most cars have a 1 second lag between when the pedal is pushed and the car actually responds. The Sprint Booster corrects this problem instantly giving you all your vehicles power with no hesitation. Give your vehicle a Throttle Boost!" HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH IT FEELS FASTER, THE SPRINT BOOSTER DOES NOT INCREASE POWER! It DOES feel faster because the response is quicker"

Does it work with the SRT Roadster if so I will purchase one. I cant figure out the thread angle on this if you could email me at tombrown@me.com Thanks.
bought one, total waste in my opinion, can't see one bit of difference, and it was a real ***** to get the thing in and the gas pedal back in the car and working again. I almost had to have the car towed to the dealer, it would not start, then after taking the thing out and putting everything back, it would not go into gear. BMW mechanic that lives near hear heard about the problem and came over and helped me do it again, 3 hours of work, and now it runs, but I can't see a bit of difference, throttle reset makes a lot more difference than this thing. Headed for colorado, with it in, probably take it out and send it back when I get home, from the rally. I know "everyone" says how great it is, guess if you are a sucker and spend that much money, you really want it to work, but I spent the money, and believe me, I don't think it works, and I was a sucker.
Fred, did you do a throttle reset after installing the sprint booster? I'm really happy with mine. No lag at all. I also got the Eurocharged tune. I used the race mode on the sprint booster at the TMS (wow). One of the best investments I made.

Who was the vendor? And,No offense meant but, are yo sure you have installed it correctly?
Virtually everyone who has done this is very pleased with the result. The results are dramatic. In my case I used a unit set for autostick on my manual 6 sp. It took me weeks to get used to the difference. Dramatic improvement in throttle response.
I have a question about these sprint boosters,If there is a 1 sec delay from when i hit the accelerator and the engine gets the signal and the booster eliminates that delay, wouldn't your 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times be 1 sec faster. If not what is it doing?
No I''m not sure it is installed correctly, almost no instructions, other then plug it in, no instructions as to how or where. I gave up and the BMW guy bailed my *** out, other wise, I think the car would have had to have been towed. I'm going to leave in in now that he got the car running again, until we get back from the Colorado Rally, then if it continues to be of no use return it and ask for a refund. I put it on a credit card, so I can can some help from them. Right now big waste of time and money. Yes I did a full Throttle reset, I do one almost every month. It was purchased from the sprint booster site list of vendors, I then it is the Mini Moris group vendor, and it is the correct number, for the crossfire. I bought it because of the lag, and getting cut off in traffic a lot, unless you keep the thing in 3rd gear, a pruis has more pick up because of the lag these things generate. This is just my openion, but every one had said they were so great, well I get a lot more grunt from doing throttle reset. Would I spend the money again absolutely not.

However, because the SB amplifies the signal, it compresses the reation time in the Computger. Therefor the resposnse is quicker. it has no more HP . It just developes the HP sooner.
Since Torque is what really jumps the car forward, and nothing changes in the torque curve, you do not get better times from the SB, just a better signal from the driver's foot.
When I first drove my Crossie, I was continually disappointed in the throttle. I resisted the concept because, as you have reasoned, why couldn't I just press harder faster?
After some $3,500 in Mods and tuning I was still unhappy.
Then I got the SB
As I have stated many times, I think these cars would have been much better received if this realtively cheap part was original. MFG cost for 80,000 units would have been less that $10 bucks a car.
Short of the Throttle reset, it is the best inexpensive mod around. Least intrusive and, unlike a CAI, doesn't void any warrenties because no one sees it.

Since you cannot say for certain that it is installed correctly, you are making a big leap calling everyone else that bought one of these a sucker. And, I do not think that you were a sucker for buying one either. I think you were unfortunate to get a Sprint Booster that is not functioning for one of the two reasons above.
I hope you get this issue resolved and get the opportunity to feel the difference that a working SB makes. In the mean time, please do not dissuade others from purchasing a product that has received rave reviews by everyone else in this community that has purchased one. Your bad experience does not mean that this is a bad product.

wow, what a read....I wouldn't buy anything I didn't think would work....They will plug in wrong btw...Last one I did was my own as my throttle peddle's rubber cover came off, causing the throttle peddle to stick...10 minutes tops...once you learn how to get the washer out...I use a magnet that looks like a pin...most mechanics keep one around. Fish out the washer, the rest is easy. They have a correct way to connect, but will connect right/ or wrong...you have to do a throttle reset...and I would do this a couple of times, as throttle resets aren't perfect either...then drive the hell out of the car so it will learn all over again...throttle should be instant...no lag...as mentioned above, it will improve your reaction time in the quarter mile racing...nothing else...it just gets rid of the lag...expensive, yes, but I hate lag...

I really wish it worked I really do, some one suggested I do multiple throttle resets, so I'll give it a shot, but if they will take it back, I think that is probably my best bet. If everyone else is happy then "great", I'm glad for them and you, but for me it just makes no difference, and all the problems installing it were not worth the truble. If this BMW guy hadn't helped me, the car would have had to be towed, cause it would not start, when I got done with it the first time, the second time I did it put it in gear and it just sit there...not fun. Maybe I'm the only guy that owns a crossfire, that got a bad one, but that just don't seem likely, so now what.

If any of us had that kind of luck with the product, we wouldn't be so enthused about promoting it.
There are guys out there promising 60 HP and 255 fuel milage increases for a $79.00 chip. Never heard any happiness from one of their customers here. Rip offs.
It happens.
Me, I thinK you got the shaft.
But not from one of our member recommended vendors. If you did, we would be all over him or....he would be shouting out to send it back for a refund.
And, SRT SIX would not tarnish his great reputation by selling junk to members. Maybe a fellow Texas member could lend you some assistance to see if it is installed correctly. Good luck with returning it, and sorry you had a bad experience with a great product.
Ok, guess I was wrong about the Sprint Booster, using it during the trip to Colorado for the Rally, I found that it works in the mountains, just fine. Problem is here in Texas, with the 70 and 80 MPH speed limit, if you are doing 80 and hit the gas the booster makes little difference, unless you are in 4th gear. At low speeds in the mountains, it makes a difference.
My BAD, but here in Texas, unless you are in traffic, around 30/40 MPH, it won't get much use. Guess what I really want is a Turbo, or Nitro, no let me think about that...

sprint booster is for the throttle response from TAKE OFF. It has never been promoted to do anything else. In traffic, from stop lights, starting line at the track, is all good for the sprint booster. You need other mods to help with your power from rolling starts as your throttle is already engauged...lol...Good luck with your mods, but, you were way off base in bad mouthing a product you didn't understand from the get-go. It happens. Complain about the price, for what you get, that I understand, but still worth it to me. Mine are almost too touchy for normal driving, but I would rather have it that way than the other.
