6 days, 6 states, 3,600 mi. & one tortoise
I'm back!! Had a great trip. Drove though Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. We stayed at some great little mom & pop motels and saw some of the most beautiful scenery in the world! It was a much needed rest from the shop. Had one confirmed speed trap kill (go escort!). It would have been ugly too, 135 less than a mile earlier. Driving on Cal "58" I saw the car in front veer a little then saw what he missed, a decent sized Mohave Desert Tortoise. We picked her up and placed her about a thousand feet off the hwy in the direction she was traveling. This probably ten pound, 12" long, magnificent creature can live to seventy years !! Handling these guys can be detrimental to their health, not to mention breaking Federal endangered species laws. If they're in immediate danger, gently place them off the road, within their territory (a quarter mile) and hope for the best. I got some great pics, threw the car in some for you guys ...

this is my girlfriend after the first twenty miles of switchbacks on cal hwy one.

That's my ex-wife trying to get in on the passenger side. She must have picked up our scent.

Great pictures Brother, and how did you keep that XFire so clean, that is one fine Crossfire you have. The ex-wife of yours, wow. How was the ride and did you have any wind noise?
I got a short video of a Tortoise, I'm going to look for it and post it to this thread, Sad story because a short time after I shot the video the timber company cut the forest down and Bulldozed over the colony. I know I hear you already, I reported it but no one cared, sure the federal people came out and looked but claimed they could find not dead Tortoises, guess what "That’s because they are all buried alive" it' all about the money.

Ben, those are some beautiful photos, thanks for sharing. The one where your car is parked near the big rock looks like you have rear louvers.
By the way, what do you have written on the bottom of your doors?
