Base Vs. Limited...would I be sorry?
I am faced with a little bit of a dilemma.
I have been shopping for Crossfires for a couple of weeks now and all of the ones I have sat in/test drove were Limited models. I found a base model one state over for a fair amount less that I am now considering.
My question:
Am I going to be sorry that I didn't get a limited? I have read the threads about the actual differences so I am aware of what I would be missing. I would just like some experiences from all of you.
Post your thoughts, I am very interested in your opinions,

These cars are selling at such drastically reduced prices, that I feel it would make no economic sense not to buy a Limited. It's true, the resale value isn't that great either. But when it comes time to sell your car, you will find more potential customers for a Limited also.
The brand new Crossfire (sale) prices between the base and the Limited is probably only a few $1,000 dollars. If you're going to finance it, it really shouldn't raise your car payment by that much.
So unless you are allergic to the smell of leather, I'd say go for the gold.

It's really depends on your preference. I don't care for the limited because of all of the silver accents and the automatic. I have a black base that is all black and I think it looks much better. When it's waxed (as it always is) and the sun is shining, there nothing better looking on the road. As far as the interior, most of mine is redone. Funny thing is I kept the cloth seats. They are very comfortable and I am not crazy about leather anyway. The seats in the Limited don't really do anything for me. The SRT seats look much better. Besides to really enjoy the car, you need the 6 speed - way more fun!!
Good luck in your decision, whichever way you go!!

I guess you don't know that the Limited comes in Black and the auto stick is extra. The manual trans. is standard. The base only comes in black.
Wow, you guys are awesome. Thank you for all of the replies!
Oddly enough, just about all of the reasons you gave for going for the limited were all ones that I had said to myself already. Thanks for reaffirming for me! Ill definitely go for a limited model.
(There should be a Crossfire in my garage this afternoon)!
Thanks again,

If you taller (over 6 ft) I would have to say limited for sure because I believe the base doesn't have power adjustable seats. I know with out those seats I couldn't fit in my XF.
Nothing against the BASE model owners out there, BUT.
IMO any BASE model will always be a wanna-be LIMITED model. Why put yourself through that? Eventually you will kick yourself for it. Good and Hard!
You know someone's going to laugh at those cloth seats. And when they realize you don't have fog lamps. OH NO!! And the CUP HOLDER... What? No kick plates, no T.P.S., no bun warmers
. I'm just getting started. That radio sounds flat... no base in the BASE.
CONVINCED YET! There's more... I mean less.

I have a base '05 and for me it has all the important stuff. The black color is hard to keep looking good and the radio you do not get the heavy bass but the cost was $ 25,000 a good buy I think.
Guys and gals...this forum is awesome!
You are all right, i probably WOULD have kicked myself in the but had I NOT bought a Limited...
BUT I DID!
I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire Limited!
I really look forward to all of your input in the future!
Thanks again,

Fog lights are about a $100 each. Hate to say it but the radio is dead in all models. If you are gonna pimp it out that is the first thing to go. I have a base with foglights and 1,600 watts of power while sitting in my cloth seats. I love it. You can keep the seat warmers and what ever other bells and whistles. I installed the rest on my own. The last thing I "wanna be" is limited.
Wow. This thread started today and you have already bought the car? That's fast.
Anyway, Congratulations on your new car. You will enjoy it. Also, utilize this forum. There are many great info.
Me? Back in January '06 best price I can get on a '05 limited was 25K and mine was 20K. I bought the base coupe. You do the math. But again. I am spending all this money to "upgrade"...hehehe

I was going through the same dilemma. I started to look couple of days ago. It was between a base '05 with 16K on the odo for $21,999 or an '04 (which is limited) with 23K on the odo for $19,999. Made the deal on the '04 which sits in my driveway now. Both amounts are asking prices from which the negotiation began.

I bought my 2004 Limited 4 weeks ago ... 141 original miles on it. $23,900 on the sign, and they gave me $12,400 for the 2003 Sante Fe (it was paid off). So I got the XF for a song, so to speak.
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum!
