Boy, I'd get some weird looks then, huh?
the plate on my crossfire reads +DECO+ i was thinking of the chrylser building when that came to mind and my '99 saab viggen reads 10-474U the new hampshire high speed chase code !
In Fla we had a Special USMC Plate, real nice, but not as many spaces allowed as NC & XF was Sem-F1!. In NC no special USMC plate, but with a little luck & creativity I was able to lockup SEMPER-F!
(8 spaces allowed, the - & !, only count as a 1/2 space each).
I was quite Happy about that, as it was the only way it could be done & it wasn't taken yet!
SF
BTW, I just noticed that my SF sig, could be SilverFox or Semper Fi, cool!

Makes working next to Jordan-Hare Stadium at Auburn University a bit interesting too.

California Special "ARTS" plates are limited to 6 Letters/Numbers.
When I registered my XF I requested and was issued "SRT6 XF".
What I got in the mail "ST6 XF" - Damn Convicts (our plates are made in prison).
Had to give'm back to the DMV - still waiting - I understand the prison workers union is on strike. - Can't we just farm it out to Mexico??

Here in Michigan you can go online and choose your plate background then configure it and see whether or not its available. They even show you what it will look like with the background of your choice.
