Here are some prices as listed in auto dealer classified ads in the Detroit Free Press on Sunday, June 25th. All cars are new 2005, 6-speed manual unless noted (or SRT6). As with many dealer ads "The Large Print Giveth, and the Small Print Taketh Away" (apologies to Tom Waits...).
BASE COUPE:
$17,890. Does not include destination charge. "Must take out of dealer stock." No mention of a requirement for special status: employee/retiree/military/lease loyalty plan, etc. Golling Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, Bloomfield Township. The photo is of an Aero Blue Limited Coupe, but the MSRP of $29,920 says that it's a base model, with the regular tires (not the $185 extra all-season option).
LIMITED COUPE:
$19,995. Does not include destination charge. "5 at similar savings. $0 down payment." No mention of a requirement for special status: employee-retiree-military/lease loyalty-college grad plan, etc. Shuman Chrysler-Jeep, Walled Lake.
$21,954. Does not mention tranny, but the $35,880 MSRP listed suggests this is an automatic. "Must qualify for Employee Advantage or Employee Choice." Snethkamp Chrysler-Jeep, Redford, MI.
$24,988. Automatic. "13 to choose from." "Must qualify for Chrysler Retiree Voucher." Westborn Chrysler, Dearborn. Along with the "almost no one qualifies" retiree requirement, the ad, on 6/25, makes offers that expire on 6/25, when the dealership is closed. In other words, they can claim they're not required to meet their advertised offers. Dealers suck!

$27,903. "Must qualify for Employee Advantage or Employee Choice." Does not include destination charge. Snethkamp Chrysler-Jeep, Redford, MI.
$29,499. "Employee/EC Buy." Does not include destination charge. Szott Chrysler-Jeep, Wite Lake, MI (some of the sneakiest "small print bait 'n switch" advertising in metro Detriot. Dealers suck!
LIMITED ROADSTER:
$24,799. "Employee/EC Buy." Does not include destination charge. Szott Chrysler-Jeep, Wite Lake, MI. LEASE: $999 out-the-door = $339/mo for 39 months. LEASE: $0 out-the-door = $369/mo for 39 months. Neither lease offer mentions annual mileage or charges/mile for overages -- another bait 'n switch waiting to happen!
