Default Wing mechanism

I was wondering if you are suppose to lubricate the opening and closing mechanism of the wing. I had washed my car and put it in the garage before going away for a few days. This morning on the way to work, everything worked fine, but the first time the wing went out, I heard I thud in the rear of the car. I looked in the mirror and saw the wing coming out. It seemed like that's where the sound came from. It was fine the rest of the day. I was wondering if some water got in the mechanism and since it wasn't used for a couple of days, that it kind of stuck when it first opened. Anyone have that experience? Anyone lubricate the hinge system occasionally? Any info appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I'm surprised you didn't say "alabaster" lithium grease. I just realized why you disabled your spoiler!!! Can anyone that knows Andrew actually SEE him putting grease on his car?!?!?!

After three years of driving, the wing started making a squeak when deploying. The dealer had to order a "special" grease for it. I did not ask what it was nor where to buy it. It seems to have taken care of the issue. The car is now officially out of warranty. I would think any good bonding grease would work for a period of time.

One good thing that the mechanic at the dealer told me is that everytime you bring your car in for service, ask for them to grease the spoiler mechanism.

Not sure what they use but like the VW Sciroccos of the 80's, they will get old, squeaky and potentially rust out unless you take care of them.
