Great to hear the car's going well after all the mods. I still haven't had chance to check out your video's yet.
This is the one you'll get a kick out of... Rather long but what the heck... 230mb...

Hey HDDP I noticed in one of your road course videos that your running on mercedes rims, are they smaller than the crossfire rims?

Any idea on how much weight you lost by using those rims?
I think the usual estimation is for every 1 lbs lost you gain about 10 HP from a rotating wheel, just curious if you weighed them for comparison?

They aren't MB wheels they are made by ACE. They are 1" wider than the OEM wheels, 18" front and rear. With the Hoosier competition tires the weight is 2.8 lbs less than OEM. The entire car is 368 lbs lighter than stock. I'm still working on reducing more weight.

I have always been told that reducing the weight of a car by 10 lbs is equivalent to adding 1 hp. Not sure about rotating mass.

I was surprised when I found out how much these things weighed.

I pulled some numbers from the Chrysler website...
Some don't make any since though...

Roadsters with autos are 3,174 lbs.
Roadsters with manuals are 3,040 lbs.
So there is a 134 lbs difference.

Coupes with autos are 3084 lbs.
Coupes with manuals are 3061 lbs.???
This 23 lbs difference. It doesn't seem right for manuals according to the above numbers

SRT-6 roadster is 3,328 lbs.
SRT-6 coupe is 3,240 lbs.

So, there is a 88 lbs difference on the SRT's vs 90 lbs on reg Crossfires between coupe and roadsters.

But...who knows why the numbers very so much between auto and manual...

I think he meant the weight of the wheels.

Well if that's the case, I have shed more weight than expected... My car currently weighs in at a svelte 2,640 lbs. with 2/3 tank of gas. That would put it at a total diet of -421 lbs. I still haven't removed the front AC condenser / radiator and compressor which should give me another +/- 50 lbs...

I would love to get another Crossfire 6 spd out on the track with me just to see where my car is... Any takers ? I'll pay the $150 entry fee...

How about flights and shipping from the UK.

I finally got to see you video (a thunderstorm took out my router halfway through the first download attempt). Fantastic! Its good to see some of that traffic going in the other direction, and the racer is sounding better than ever now. It just made me want to get out there and drive.

I was a bit better classed this time, no Z06's, no GT40's, no 400 hp WRX's... Just a bunch of 170-350 hp cars on a very tight technical track that requires more handling than hp.

My best times were in the 1:37 range... And not to knock srt6_crossfire (he was still learning) his were in the 1:55 range. Plus, he doesn't want to crash his car, I don't mind now that I have a cage around me... LOL

I'm hanging-up the helmet for a few weeks because the weather is just stupid hot here... I'll get back out there when it cools down...

Keep me posted on your progress with the mods...

DG

We are having a heat wave here too! I am back at Bruntingthorpe on Saturday so will hopefully be trying out the dyno box and may get chance to look at some ECU stuff. I'll keep you posted.
