That Alabaster nose is the most striking mod I've seen on an XF to date. Changing on the Blacks and Dark Greys is subtle and sometimes barely noticeable but the Alabaster is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous mod.

 

Pulled my first speeding ticket coming down from big bear. I had been following a super slow BMW x5 we get to the passing lane they speed up, I punch it to get around them and bam a coper right around the next bend. I just pulled over knew I was had. Lucky he only wrote me up for 79 in a 55. I was doing more like 90+.

Online driving school was a blast.

Ouch! That sucks. But they are up there watching for sure. I know all of their favorite hidden corners. I bet they got you on the passing lanes of 330 just before the ranger station. They hang out on that corner a lot, and that's where everyone puts the pedal down. I know they're looking for me...kinda makes it fun in a way. Maybe that's a bit sick...but so is having a blast with online driving school.

 

Is it me or does the grill not match the stock color?

 

I did the same thing this weekend except I kept the stock brushed trim. It came out awesome. The gloss black looks much better than that grey color that was there before. Next project is going to be the side strakes...

 

I did this mod yesterday and I like it. The chrome bars look better with the chromed winged badge above them.

 

Just did the grill mod. My front pieces were plastic welded to the grill. I left them alone and it looks fantastic. I was wondering how the side strakes would look black. I know the basic comes mono, and I like that look. I like the handles and the windshield surround with the brushed look, but I think I would like the strakes black. How hard are they to take out and re-install. I used Krylon Fusion (for plastic) on the grill. I used a satin finish. I guess I would have to use a gloss finish on the strakes since they are right against the body. What type paint would anyone recommend? Thanks for the info.

 

Bobs, glad it worked out. I was thinking of doing the same thing (keeping the stock brushed trim), but noticed you used Gloss over Matt/Flat...you think that's a better look. I went down to Pep boys this weekend to pick up the material and I couldn't find any trim that didn't look really plastic and cheap, then I couldn't decide if I should go Gloss or Matt.

Basically it looks really nice. I used 5 or 6 coats of gloss black on the grey parts and what it did was fill in the matted surface and made it nice and smooth. It kind of looks like black chrome, if that makes any sense...

 

I took some of the leftover molding and did a little highlight thing under the tail lights...

What do y'all think?

Interesting look with the leftover chrome. I just put on the one side. Need to check it out in the daylight...It is one of those things that you might not realize it is there but you catch yourself saying "...I know something is different..."

i'm with andrew, it looks tacked on. now if their were someway to make the tail lights look more slr mclaren-ish, i would be feeling it.

 

Next, I'm gonna fill in the hood strakes with it.

 

LOL...I saw those poor lonely empty grooves and said the same thing...NOT...falling down and LOL.

 

Ok... I'm finally done with my grille. Painted the factory color with clear coat and chrome... I think it looks kick a**!

I'm new to the XF. Just bought a 2005. Can you tell me where to buy the chrome grill you refer to from CTD? Do you have their website info?
