Default Headlight replacement - HELP

I need to replace a headlight bulb on my wife's coupe. I removed the dust cover, then tried to unplug the harness. For the life of me I could not get the harness unplugged from the old bulb, and I don't want to break it. There's not much room to fit my hand in there, but I could not find a clip on the harness. Is there a clip to release the harness from the bulb? If so what do I look for.

Thanks,

- Lance

I don't believe the harness unplugs there...just twist the bulb holder about a quarter turn to the left and it should come right out.

No, the bulb is held in place with a chrome clip. The manual says to remove the weather cover, then unplug the harness, then remove the clip and the bulb will come out. However, the manual does not tell how to remove the harness (Go figure)...

Hmmm...okay. I'm not real sure then. I assumed they would be like the turn signal bulbs, but obviously not. Sorry for the mis-information. Good luck...and let us know when you figure it out.

Thanks alot. I went to the dealer at lunch and talked with a technician. He showed me how to pull the bulb out with the harness still attached, then it was much easier to unplug it outside of the socket. Install a new bulb, put the retainer back on, then plug the harness back in.

I just wanted to be sure that there was not a clip holding it because I didn't want to pull too hard and break it. It takes a lot of force to unplug it, that's for sure.

A good thread, but what I'd pay to know how to pull the bulb and harness out together...

Actually, I'll let you know what I'll pay. As I can't get the harness off the passenger-side low beam (look at the lack of clearance!), I'll be taking this in to the dealership in the next day or two. I can't stand the thought of paying to replace a bulb, but there you go.

You take the ring clip off of the bulb and pull like hell. They are sort of stuck in there, but nothing else is holding them in, it will eventually come out. Once it comes out it is a lot easier to pull the harness off.
