Road Trip!
so me and the family are going on a trip to myrtle beach and i am taking the xfire. is there anything i can do before i leave to get better gas mileage on the interstate. what are some other things i can do before leaving to improve the ride.
Don't take the family, or luggage. Lose as much weight as possible. Remove stereo/speakers/passenger seat. Don't turn on the AC but keep the window's rolled up. Get an oil change, check your filters. Air up your tires to maximum recommended on the tire not the label on your door. for entertainment bring a ipod Nano (the light weight one). Good luck.
Ok you know I'm just josh'n. If its near time to get your oil changed do it. Check your air filters. Wash and wax your car and air up your tires. Enjoy your trip.

We could go into the drive 65 not 70 debate but I truly don't want to do that. Just use cruise control on the flat lands. Let the car decelerate going up-hill and let the car accelerate going down. Minimize stopping. (tell everyone to use the bathroom once every 300 miles. LOL
Last weekend I drove the Chrysler to Galveston from Dallas with a passenger and a trunk full of XF luggage. I ran the A/C and the radio all the way. I also had to deal with various construction zones and Houston traffic. I drove about 65 to 70 when possible. I got the usual 27 mpg.
I suggest that you just enjoy the drive. 27 mpg is more than acceptable for me.
