Your Engine Cover...
Just ordered the SLK 320 engine cover. Its coming from Germany so I'll let you all know in about a week or so how it works out and all the particulars. The local MB dealer gave me the #'s and a computer drawing of all the parts and prices. The intake tubes that go with the MB cover are the exact same #'s of the tubes on my XF so I am anticipating a straight swap cover for cover with no change of tubes or anything. The only thing I think I might have to do is take the 4 clamps off the bottom of the XF cover and put them on the MB cover if they don't come with them already. I used an MB dealer I was given by someone on this forum for my shift **** and he beat my local MB dealer by a ton. Locally they wanted $318 for the cover than of course NY State sales tax 8+%. This MB dealer was getting $254 Fed Ex'd to my business complete. The cover also came with 2 of the MB green air filters which I may change to the K & N's. Best part of all if it doesn't fit or anything isn't right I can send it back. If all goes well I'll fill you all in on the details. If it looks as good as I think it will I'll have an available "powered by" badge if someone needs one.

Man, all of those engine covers look great. There are lots of creativity out there. I think I am going to go with Snoped, Bobs and buggy's concept. Now I searched the forum and web and it seems there are different kinds of MB engine cover that fits ours. Does anyone know all different MB engine cover that fits Crossfire?
Mine is a straight swap from an SLK 320 nothing else required, #1120900501 @ $254.40 from Joe Wood at Crown MB (614-799-4670) FedEx'd to my door. Local dealer quote $318 + New York State tax about 8 1/2%. Mention the Forum if you call him.
Still a work in progress...Due to health issues (I have been/will be on crutches for a while) I am still working on my engine cover. I added the RamAir Intake and covered the Chrysler emblem with gold leaf (very tedious), now all I have to do is add the MB star.

Bumping this thread up as I am sure some of the newer people did not get a chance to either see or post up their engine cover.
Also would like to ask if you fellas think that this: http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...n+fiber+engine would fit on our cars as well as they are made for the slk32.

For those of you wondering how to go about doing your engine cover so the letters stand out in the original color ... after you paint that area of the cover let it dry and then take an x-acto knife and scrape the letter's
c a r e f u l l y. I have also painted the wings now and done the same scratch technique on the Chrysler logo and it came out beautiful. I had to use my reading glasses to do this, the eyes ain't what they used to be. I covered the whole thing with a clear coat.
Food for thought.

Pretty much any automotive paint will do. You need to add additives to make it compliant with the right kind of plastic the covers are made of. I used regular crossfire alabaster paint I got at the auto store. The proper primer is also important.
After seeing the post from Sidez linking to the MB AMG cover in carbon fiber, thought I would add my SRT6 (trimmed to show the plate/supercharger like the MB AMG from the link.

I haven't done the standard cover in the CF yet. I am looking to pick one up so I can get it done and post a picture. Anyone who has an extra one who wants to sell it (cheap) I am very interested, PM me.
