Bye Bye Crossfire, hello Import
Well, I have spent/wasted the past 3 weeks/Saturdays looking for a new car. I have spent 12 hours each of the past 3 Saturday's in Chicago. I have driven all sorts of cars. Mostly Benz, BMW, Infiniti. Looks like I'm going to be getting a G35 coupe. Back seat, luxury, sporty factors all contributing to my decision. Drove an '06 C240 Sport, M3, C32 AMG, CLK 320, 525, 325. And the G35 seems to be the best and most practical choice. The C32 AMG was nice (but there was no warranty, and the dealership seemed shady. Maybe you guys have heard of them. (Luxury motors, lots of dealerships in the chicago area dealing with high end cars.) Anyone currently own or have owned a G35?
back seat?? hahaha. very nice choice though, but that's the last aspect of the car i would have mentioned. quick cars, big aftermarket. why are you getting rid of the crossfire? too much disposable income?
I like G35 coups but there are so many here they are like Hondas. Plus if I see another damn huge wing on one I'm going to puke. Why do the stupidest people have the money to buy these cars.

Back Seat (Don't have to drive a '99 neon when there is more than one passenger).
Aftermarket that goes to "Infinite" and beyond.
Quick car, with nice exhaust note.
Stylish.
Unique - Surprisingly I am seeing more Crossfires than I do G35's, Lexus IS 300's and etc. Thanks to Chryslers marketing skills. Overstock.com sound familiar to anyone?
Spare tire.
More bang for the buck.
New car!! (Well, new for me).
Leather/heated seats.
Sunroof.
Premium package with Bose sound/6 disc in dash.
XM radio ready.
Less expensive oil changes.
Negatives
Upside down 4k!!
Anyone know where there are cheap snow tires for this car? (I live in Wisconsin).
Don't take this wrong kid, but you bought a base model. Most crossfires come with Leather and Heated seats. What do you mean more bang for the buck? Your going to go 4k in the hole. Your young, (granted I'm not much older) don't put yourself deep in the hole this early in life. It seems to me you might have new car it is. Try to save up more for a down payment so you don't go that far into the hole, but if I were you, and in your situation the first thing I would do is ask my parents. They're right 90% of the time and if you still get the G35 I wish you the best.
I'm considerably older than 13K9, but I think he's wise beyond his years and that his advice is right on target. You may not want to listen to us old guys, but you should carefully consider what one of your peers says. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I hate to say any negative things about your choice, but since your explaining all the pro's and con's about the two cars . . . ask someone who owns a G35 or a 350Z about the non-warrenty covered pre-mature front tire wear problem ?!?! You'll be lucky to get 5,000 to 10,000 miles out of set of front tires. That's why I didn't buy a 350Z and the reason why my friend wishes he didn't buy his G35 !!! It's a shame really, they are very nice cars, but I couldn't bring my self to take the gamble and buy one.
Side note, us older guys (especially those us that have sold cars for a living, hint, hint, wink, wink . . .
) you don't want to go $4,000 in the hole unless you have $10,000 to put down.
Either way, best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

g35 coupe...
favorite things: the optional 19" rims & the incredible exhaust note.
worst thing: i see a ton of them.

Not to mention, you'd basically be getting rid of a Mercedes for a Nissan. lol.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing, I actually like the G35, but here in the DC area, they're more common than government contractors and attorneys (which are everywhere). Not that it would matter, I buy cars for me to enjoy, not for other people to see. I've heard about the tire issue too and that would give me some concern, particularly if you tend to drive a bit "aggressive".
I hope your XF finds a good home.

XFKID, I happen to think the G35 is a great car. It was my car of choice before I stumbled upon the great deal I got on the Crossfire.
But my advice would be to stick with your Neon for awhile, get out from under the $4k you owe, and save up for the Challenger. (That is, if you like the way it looks). A 425 hp Hemi is going to be very enticing, and you may be glad you waited. It will be here before ya know it.
Besides, why drive a new car through the winter, if you don't have to?

Nissan product over a MB/DC product ???
I just ditched $65,000.00 worth of Nissan vehicles (2003 Nissan Truck & 2004 Murano) in the last 12 months because of mechanical problems and bad service from the Stealership from which they were purchased.
I now own a 2005 Dodge RAM & 2004 Crossfire. Since 2000 I have also owned two Jeeps (2000 Wrangler & 2000 V8 Grand Cherokee), which were both great vehicles and totals 4 MB/DC vehicles in 6 years.
The only good thing about choosing the Infinity version of a Nissan it that you'll get a loaner car while your Infinity is being repaired under warranty. Nissan never would offer that without a fight during the many times we needed warranty service.
Good Luck with you vehicle selection. I hope you don’t have the same experience with the Nissan product as we did.

What's wrong with a "Nissan" product? Infiniti make excellent cars.
I think the G35 coupe is one of the best looking cars on the road, and compared to the 3-series and A4's(brand new), they are a pretty good bang for the buck.
Everyone's right though: the last thing you want to do is keep flipping cars when you're upside down, especially by $4K. If you're looking at a brand new G35(or any brand new car), you're going to royally f yourself.
If you can afford the payments on a $30K car, you can afford to pay down that Neon pretty quickly. Wait until you can buy a car without being upside down. Once you do that, it's a never-ending circle that keeps getting worse.

Based on my very recent experience dealing with Nissan automobiles I would say there is bunch wrong with Nissan. My service records speak for themselves.
Besides, when you take a close look at a G35 coupe or sedan you find out that it's nothing more than a Nissan Altima in fancy clothes.

I like G35s. I have driven one and was impressed.
Since Nissan is introducing the 2nd gen. G35 sedan this year, I guess the coupe will follow maybe next year. Which means they will discount deeper for current model year G35s. Good luck.

hah i own a crossfire and a neon as well... except my 95 neon is a 2 door with a 2.4 transplanted from a stratus + custom turbo system... keep the neon and crossfire... its the vest of both worlds, luxury and prestige when you want it and then a kick *** beater for the winter that is easy and cheap to modify...
not to mention, but i find myself in a situation where i do not want too expensive a car to drive at times ... like when i do jobs for companies located in bad parts of town or when i am out with my bosses (why flaunt that i am good with managing my finances ... it'll just lead to the car getting vandalized by those jealous ... or make my co workers and bosses feel like dam i am doing pretty good for my age, last thing i want them to think, i need more money !) ... the neon fits that role perfectly, it looks like **** and grabs comments like "oh, that thing is ummm... ya so did you see the new water cooler we got ?"
