Looks like another ebay scam. Notice how you get redirected? Also when you do a search on the item number, it doesn't come up...

Here is another scam:

Thanks for the info. It was a scam it is now gone. It has been removed. There were a run of these in the last 2 weeks at least 4 had to be removed. Two other had fraudulent second chance offers sent out. Seems like the scammers like the Crossfire to try and rip people off.

Here is the redirected link to the $7,300 XF. I hate scammers.

That's what I thought. I tried e-mailing to someone and it couldn't find it in their database. You would think that ebay would do a better job keeping these scams out.

Carfax is not that great. A friend in Chicago had his Audi TT in a really bad accident, the insurance ended up paying like 22k to repair something that was worth 26k at the time. the car had a ton of damage. It never showed up on Carfax and he traded it in. Then he bought a Lexus SC 430 and it was stolen one day when he left it running while getting coffee and it was smashed really bad and of course nothing showed up in Carfax (like 38k damage for a car worth 65k). He traded it in for a Mercedes. I think Carfax is pretty limited in what it shows, imo.

The problem with Carfax, is that the Ebay scammers hijack a legitimate listing and repost it a few weeks later. So nothing shows up on Carfax.

wow, your friend must have the most ironic luck in the world. fact is, carfax is the most accurate way to find out a cars history for the average person. argue all you want, that's a fact.

I agree it is the best way for the average person, no doubt. I think the point is valid that it won't uncover everything and just because it has a good carfax report is no guarantee that the car is without bad history. No all insurance companies participate to let you know a certain car was involved in a repairable accident. If it has a salvage title it certainly will show up. I was looking at a Mustang in FL once and caught a roll back, the car had been a rental car previously. Carfax basically will provide information that the average person would not know but you still need to look the car over for flood or repair damage. Heck if my car sits in 18 inches of water and I clean it up and trade it in know one would know from a carfax. If you buy a car new and at 75,000 miles its rolled back to 45,000 miles and then traded, carfax would not know. If it wasn't serviced at the dealership it would not be detected unless a DMV inspection had occurred. So it is still buyer beware and a carfax is worth the money.

Carfax probably only shows that the car was sold as salvage and not merely fixed by the owner.
