Default Where do you position your jacks / jack stands?

Hi Folks! 2004 Crossfire owner here.

In the past when I've gone under the car I've always used ramps. I just bought a set of jack stands and I'm a bit flummoxed because the jacking pads are so small.

If you jack up the car using the jacking pads, where do you put the jack stands? Every other surface in that area seems to be sheathed in plastic, which I assume will crack if I allow the weight of the car to rest on the jack stands' saddle there.

I assume I can safely put the jack stands either fore or aft of the pads and just live with the fact that it'll look a little busted underneath , but I wondered how the rest of you do it.

Tips?

I use two jacks and leave them in place and put the jackstands under the wheel suspension arms for safety/

I first jack up the rear using my 6 ton jack on the pumpkin ( differential ) and place both rear stands on the jack points.
Then I run the 6 ton jack in from the side towards the front to the center of the cross member behind the engine and jack up.
I then place the front stands on the jack points.

reverse to place on ground.

Update: jacked it up using points just fore and aft of the rear and front jack-pads, respectively. This didn't crack or damage the plastic down there as I'd expected. Positioned the jack stands under the jacking pads and lowered it onto them. This did crease the plastic of the jacking pads where the edges of the jack stands' saddle "bit in", but otherwise it worked.

There are things designed to fit into the "well" in the center the rubber jack cushions, and it keeps the jack from deforming the cushions.

Yea, in my case those "things" are cutoff pieces of 2X4.

That combo jack stand has the worst reviews, ha. Cool idea, wish it was still on the market. I don't like leaving my car on the jack, but once it is up, there's nowhere to place jack stands. So, my jack stands to under the control arm that is up in the air. If that arm can bear be weight of the car on the ground, it can hold the jack stand. But the control arm might deform if I rest the weight of the car on a small point, so I leave he weight on the jack with the jack stand for "in case."
