UK Xfire - Tyre Choice
I have been reading this forum since I bought my '04 Xfire in March, and have been very much a silent member and until now have had no issues with the car, in fact its great. However time is fast approaching for new rubber - I currently run with the PS.
I have read all the previous posts - and noticed a thread where a UK member chose to run with Eagle F1's, I guess I would like to know how they got on, compared to the PS? Apologies for aiming this specifically at UK members but our roads and driving conditions are significantly different to the US.
Many thanks,
Matt

Here is a link to a tire comparison test from Car and Driver magazine:
http://www.caranddriver.com/features/10252/tire-test-the-quick-and-the-tread-page13.html
The article is 13 pages long, with the results of the test on the last page. I posted the results if you don’t feel like reading the entire article.

Hello from Scotland!
I just discovered this forum today although I've owned a Crossfire Coupe for 8 months now.
Last week I had 4 new tyres fitted (do I have to say "tires" on this forum?).
They were Goodyear F1 DS G3 and are significantly quieter than the Michelin Pilots they replaced. The Pilots had bulges in the sidewalls of two of the tyres- so I'll be avoiding Michelin in future.

Welcome to the forum guys!!! Seems the Goodyear tires/tyres are highly rated everywhere and much less expensive than the PS2s. I will probably go the same route when the Michelin's give up.
Yeah, if I lived in an area where it does not snow, I would get the Goodyear F1. It's a great tire, handles very well in dry and wet pavement. Does not do well in snow.
Keep this in mind.
Keep this in mind.
My main question is that in several articles i read in Car and Driver, when road tires must be used, they choose to use our exact tires. If they are so much worse than the f1? I'm talking about cars that make insane amounts of hp and such, yet they are using ours? Is it simply because ours are the most expensive, there for people think they are the best? I'm genuinely curious, if it wasn't so late i'd look up the article, but if you guys want i'll do it later...
