Exclamation No 2007 Crossfire

Go to the Chrysler web page and try and build a 2007 Crossfire, all you get is the 2005. No where does it indicate a 2007 is available. The other models have 2007 info. I believe 2007 will go just like 2006 except there are hardly any new Crossfires still left in the US. I searched the closest 10 dealerships and there was one 2005. I do not believe we will be able to get our hands on a 2007. At least the '06 was built.

One Chrylser employee I talked to said that if there was to be a 2007 Crossfire, it would come out in the Spring of 2007.

Don't know why DC still has the 2005 Crossfire on their website, since if you "build" one and try to check dealer stock, you will get an out of stock message. A check of the dealers in the Twin Cites came up with only a couple of black basic models left.

I hope they will not build an '07. I like driving around and not seeing to many other Crossfires on the road, unlike when i'm driving my Chrysler 300.

How are they selling up there? I hope no one is foolish enough to be paying the MSRP price...

I went to a Nissan dealer with a friend who is thinking about buying a sports car to replace his Cougar. I let him drive my XF over, so he would be able to make a direct comparison between the 350Z and the Crossfire. After driving the Z, the salesman told him that the 2007's weren't out yet.
So I guess we aren't the only ones waiting for the new models.
Everyone is so sure that this is the last year for the Crossfire, I was just curious where that rumor got started?
I mean, didn't Chrysler have a 5 year contract with Karmann to build them from 2003 to 2008?
Oh by the way, my friend said he liked the looks of the XF better, and he thought they both drove about the same. He really likes the better price of the Crossfire too.

That's what I heard too, 5 year contract.? I heard, I think on this forum, that 2007 was going to be the last of them. I wonder if those 06's and 07's are really that. If there were so many unsold 04's and 05's perhaps they re did the vins? I don't know if they can do that but if they were never titled I have to wonder. I wonder if there is any way to find out if Karmann produced any 06's and 07's? I know my 05' which was purchased in July of 05' has a build date of May 2004. Interesting.

That's what I heard too, 5 year contract.? I heard, I think on this forum, that 2007 was going to be the last of them.
- The original contract was for five model years (2004 - 2008). A total of 20,000 cars where to be built a year, 100,000 total. Roughly 15% of those being sold outside the U.S. Late last winter or early spring there were several car mag articles and news releases that DC renegotiated the contract and slowed/stopped production (do a search, several links to some of the articles were posted here).

I wonder if those 06's and 07's are really that. If there were so many unsold 04's and 05's perhaps they re did the vins? I don't know if they can do that but if they were never titled I have to wonder.
- Your really going way out on a limb with that theory. It would be almost impossible and too costly to change VIN's on the car, engine and transmission etc., and on the paperwork that goes with each car. Not to mention big time fraud.

I wonder if there is any way to find out if Karmann produced any 06's and 07's?
- There have been posts on this forum by Canadian owners saying the '06 was offered in Canada. Post #4 of this thread gives a link to the Canadian DC site which offers the 07's.

I know my 05' which was purchased in July of 05' has a build date of May 2004. Interesting.
- What is so interesting about buying a car in July '05 with a build date of May '04? All that means is the car sat around unsold for well over a year after being built... nothing interesting about that. My car was built as an '04 in June of '03. It sat unsold for six months.
There is nothing unusual about next years models being produced in the current year, it's done all the time.

Geez, talk about conspiracy theories...

Ben - not a conspiracy theory. Just wondering out loud. Wonder if any one in Canada has actually seen an '06 or '07 ?
I don't recall ever seeing anyone here who has said they had one?

I asked Dr. Z and he doesn't know either...what a waste. I was informed to "keep checking with dealership" which we all know is worthless. We will just have to wait to see what DC does.

ben47, Of the 100K you cited, do you know how many - net of slows & stops to production - have actually been built as of now?

Sorry, no I don't. From what I've read here on the forum Chrysler does not publish that information. My best guess is to see how high the VIN's are going.

In looking at the Canadian Chrysler website MMMike noted, it appears that there will be a 2007 Crossfire (maybe in nameplate only), so the question is will it be sold in the USA.

I checked Chrysler's UK and Australian websites, and they do not yet have an update of the websites to show the new 2007 Crossfires.

Mmmike, Canada obviously has the "newest" or most recently built Crossfires on their dealers lots. How about doing the forum a favor and stop in one day and verify a serial number of an ‘07 for us (if you can locate one). At least that would give everybody some solid numbers to go by.

mmm, i searched a little and the dealers in my area are out of stock for the 2006 and 2007 models. i think its like everywhere else they are stuck with 2004 and 2005 models, and prices are dropping i don't see lots of them in the Montreal region. i have the only red i have seen so far. i'll try to see if they can order one and ask for the serial.

All I can add is that there was no Crossfire at the Miami International Auto Show this year in Miami Beach. They did however have the Chrysler Imperial Concept there which I think is a beautiful vehicle. It reminds me of a Rolls though, but still beautiful. I want one. I agree with everyone who does not want to see them for '07. I like the fact that Chrysler's marketing department screwed up and couldn't present the crossfire to the masses in its full glory. It means I got a great car at a great price with fewer on the road.

Another note, has anyone else noticed that the Chrysler half of the Diamler Chrysler group's car commercials (I've seen Chrysler and Dodge) now mention German Engineering?

No 2007? The good and the bad:

- good: not that many on the road, an inexpensive limited production vehicle,
- bad: dealership service has gotting worse and the lack of parts.

Something to think about...
