Windshield wipers - do yours do this?
When I have my wipers on constant speed and I come to a complete stop, such as at a red light, the wipers automatically switch to intermittent. Then when I start moving again, they switch back to constant speed. It's a neat feature, but I have no clue what the advantages of it are. Anyone else notice this?

This really is one smart car that was sold by a stupid company.
Just remember if any asks you tell them what I tell them. This is a Mercedes that was sold by Chrysler dealers. These cars are going to be worth something in ten or fifteen years.
PS - Yes my wipers do the same thing. I was very impressed the first time I noticed it.

You're lucky to have no rain. I live in South Florida, which is almost like living in the rainforest. Rains every day during the summer. It's a mission to keep a black car spotless.
Yes it is the older MB design. it keeps the wipers from skipping across a dry windshield and driving you crazy. I like all the little features of this car.

It's the little, well though-out features like this that really make this car special to me. It must be a German thing because I have a couple of BMW bikes that do stuff like this too. No American or Japanese-made machinery I have owned has done this kind of stuff.
What midnightman said.
I had a late 70's Honda Accord with better windshield wiper controls.
You could also get effective foot level heat and fresh air from the dash vents at the same time.

You think speed sensitive wipers are cool, the car I traded on the Crossfire was a Peugeot 206cc, which had Auto wipers, great feature, soon as it starts raining the wipers come on, and stop when the rain stops.
I believe mine does when they are set on intermittent, but if they are set on slow or high they simply switch to intermittent when I stop. It's a novelty feature that is kind of makes you go wow, but I am not really sure how practical it really is.

And I do like my XF's wipers and how they work, wish it had one or two more intermittent settings.
Not long after I had my Crossfire, I was sitting on Rt 287 in Jersey in the rain when my wipers stopped as described. Absolutely pissed, I called my wife and told her the lousy car had broken wipers. Sigh... I realize I'm an old dog in a world of new tricks.
