Default question?? (!)

Bought a brand new crossfire back in may of this year. My new crossfire did not come with owner's manual. I had been having this light on the gauge (!). What is that mean?? Might be stupid question but I'm dying to find out what that is so i can bring in to shop if i need to. Also, my car has around 7,600 miles on and do I need to bring the car in for any kind of service yet other than oil change which I already do every 3,000 mi.?? Please let me know guys.

Is it in the upper left corner of the display? From the 'pic', I'm guessing the TPM, Tire Pressure Monitoring. It's telling you at least one tire is low. It doesn't pinpoint which tire is.

The indicator is the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) to alert you when the tire pressure in any of the four tires goes out of specification. Here is a description from the service manual.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
DESCRIPTION
This vehicle has a tire pressure monitoring (TPM) system. It is
there to alert the driver when air pressure in any of the vehicle’s
four tires falls below a predetermined threshold. It alerts
the driver with a lamp in the instrument cluster.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION SPECIFICATION
Low Pressure Threshold 26 psi.

Careful about that oil change...it should be done every 7K. You must use synthetic oil and it takes 8 QT (or is it 8 1/2, somebody help here). Mobil 1 0W-40W is recommended. The filter is special as well. Taking it to a dealer can cost $100 or more. Just be careful about the "speedy" oil services and make sure to get synthetic.

I always use 8 Qt's and that brings it to the full mark on the dipstick and shows "ok" on the dash readout. If I put 8 1/2 qt's in I get a "HI" reading on the dash.

Won't hurt, but it's completely unnecessary. Just make sure you use Mobil One 0-40 or like as recommended by SRT SIX and ROY.

Absolutely not! It is a fact that cleaner oil promotes longevity. The big question is when does the oil loaded up with contaminates to the point it becomes detrimental to the moving parts? Mobil 1 is synthetic oil so don't have to worry about it breaking down with age and becoming acidic like stand oil. The new cars are built to a lot tighter tolerance then older cars so seal blow by is not as great, but there is still heat and there is still friction that generates wear and particulate. So 3K miles may be way over kill but if you are doing your own oil changes it is cheap insurance like using tier 1 gas to reduce deposits. I personally change my oil every 4k - 5K miles, it only takes about 15 minutes using a Top Sider oil evacuation pump ($50 from Overton's boating supply).

By the way the accurate tire pressures on printed on a plate inside the driver's side door jamb.

You're putting in about twice the oil of a average car...and that's the recommended change rate. It couldn't possibly hurt to change it sooner, but it's not necessary.

Question Re: question?? (!)

Does anybody do 5k oil changes on their XF? I think 5k is a good number between the 3k and 7k recommended change time.
