Angry can anyone tell me

How much would it cost to replace the glass under my headlights where the fog lights are. I just noticed that mines was broken, and I did not know that it was GLASS!! And not plastic like the ones over the headlights. Now why would the do a thing like that? That's the lowest part of the car, where a rock possibly broke it. Is it easy to replace, or do I have to take it to the dealer or can I do it myself.

the fog lamps cost any where between $78 - $98 depending upon where you purchase them.

the fog lamp housing is one piece and can be removed from the front wheel well housing area... the plastic wheel well sleeve is quite easy to remove.

i have a thick film on my lenses for added protection thru "xpel.com"

I got lucky, one of mine broke, but the other one had the lens cap falling off issue, so they replaced them both with the "updated" fog light. So my broken one was replaced under warranty. Maybe you can find a way to "alter" the non broken one?

Where can the update regarding lens falling off issue be found. That just might work. I'm taking mine in next month for some warranty work.

Andrew,

The "XPEL" lense covers, did you install them yourself?

If so, how difficult was it?

If not, how much did you pay for installation?

Thanks,
Frank

the install is quite easy... a diy job.

here are some pics to aid (just fog lamp cover pictured):

a complete kit will come with headlamp & fog lamp pieces.

as for install...

- clean cars lense surface thoroughly with straight rubbing alcohol to remove grease, wax, lint, etc.
- heat clear film slightly with a blow dryer to allow some material flexibility.
- pull back adhesive covering... spray film & lense with a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water.
- align film on lense and squeegee front side with provide tool (from the inside outward).
- heat new covering to secure film and edges (and/or during install).

Great idea Andrew. It might save a little money down the road from replacing fog lamp.
