renting a crossfire
Just flew into Phoenix and went to pick up my car from Hertz and there they were a couple of Coupes and Roadsters, also a red Corvette convertible. Since when has Hertz or any other big name company started renting Crossfires? Is Chrysler trying to bring more attention to the car or just get rid of it? I also never saw Vettes rented by any other company then the small rental car companies that rent exotic cars.
Enterprise has been renting the Crossfires for over a year. That's actually how I fell in love with them. I rented them 3 times and a month later I bought one.
I bet the rental car companies can get REAL good deals on them, so that's probably why they'd opt to get them. In addition to that alot of "regular" people probably think the car is cool, which it is.
Many of the rental agencies are franchised, the franchise often owned by a local car dealership.
They sell a car to their own agency, and then bring it back in into the dealership after so many miles or months, and then sell it used as having been a daily rental.
I would not be interested in buying any sport vehicle that was a daily rental.
However, if you shop carefully, good deals can be had.

I rented a Crossfire in Tucson this time last year, 20,000 miles on it, scratches and dings not a pretty sight! Thrifty was the agency, I got the Crossfire for the rate of $50 a day due the fact they should have had a Sebring for me. We also got a $50 rebate from the head office as our luggage would not fit in the trunk, and my wife had to take a taxi to the airport with the luggage, while I returned the Crossfire to Thrifty (LOL).

Our Enterprise here in Nashville has a Boxster. It's green, my favorite color, and I'm always upset when I take my car in for service they either bring me a Base PT cruiser w/o cruise control or a Dodge Dakota. I'm use to have heated leather seats, great handling, infinity sound and they bring me cheap cloth, underpowered, 4 speaker cassette radio's. Hell, I'd be happy with a 300 or Sebring. Limited of course.
After Hertz is finished renting the Crossfire, they get flipped over to the Dodge/Chrysler dealers and they turn around and sell them to us. I found out this little fact after I purchased mine from a dealer in So Cal. the jack offs didn't even tell me this until 3 months later. I found this out talking to one of their salesman. SOB was I pissed, because I was told it was garaged and lease to a family in the neighborhood. No wonder no one has respect for used car salesman.
