The car goes away this Monday!
In two days the Crossfire is finally going away. Although I'm very happy with the car I picked to replace it, the 07' Mini Cooper S, I have great memories of the Crossfire. I didn't originally want the Crossfire because I had a 2005 Mustang GT on order, but when Ford started screwing around with alot of us, I made a spur of the moment decision and leased the Crossfire. Initially I liked the car and still do, but could never really wrap my arms around the car. At that point I knew I made a mistake and tried getting out of it. Again, its not because the car isn't good, it is, no doubt about it, but as an enthusiast it wasn't going to work. I always felt like I was driving a nice car that was someone else's, something I liked, but would never buy. Even though I'm taking a hit on the car its the right choice for me.
The car has done everything I've asked of it and it never complained one bit. The mileage is great, especially on the freeway, the perf is great having run a 14.8 @94 mph in it, freeway cruising at 100-130 is rock solid, handling the curves of the world famous Dragon was a breeze, it really shined there.
I will always have fond memories of the car and will probably be the only sports car I'll ever own (hopefully I get a Vette one day).
So if that's the case I can say I had a good one for sure and in 20 years when I'm a carshow somewhere and see one I can say "I had one of those and it was a blast!"
In closing I'd like to say that I'm not going anywhere either. Even if I'm a "troll" I can still contribute to this site. Being a part of a car community is like a big family, so the car brought us all together, we take it from there.

Having driven a Mini on several occasions...I think the interior of the crossfire feels smaller than the Mini. The Mini handles almost as well as the Crossfire, and is very fun to drive.

I too will be leaving. I was seduced by a Black 2007 Mustang California Special, just three days before I left Texas, for retirement. It was a difficult decision as the Crossfire had been my daily driver for almost 2.5 years. A little over 24,000 miles and only one problem, a leaking oil sensor, replaced the next day. I am, so far, very happy with the Mustang. I immediately put 1,200 miles on her driving from North Texas to South Dakota, by the back roads.
Averaged 22.3 miles per gallon for the trip and had Sirius radio. This is my fourth Mustang, and at my age.
This is a great forum, and I have still been checking in every day, its a hard habit to break.
God speed to all,
John

My daughter has a mini which I have driven to Kansas City on numerous occasions (8) in three years for warranty work. It does not in any way shape or form compare to my Crossfire. It's just "cute."
Hi,
Did Chrysler offer any discount in the lease end purchase price? I have 5 more months of lease to go, I want to purchase the car if the lease end buyout was reduced a bit. Thanks in advance.

Chrysler offered nothing as there is another year left on the lease, but the dealership offered me a pretty fair price, so I took it, even if I'm paying alittle extra to get out of it early.
Now I understand what everyone is saying about the Mini and it being "cute", but guys, come on, have you ever heard what "they" (meaning car guys) say about the Crossfire.
I didn't listen to them, that's for sure, because I'm a real car guy myself, liking everything from the M3, EVO MR to a 62' Bel-Air "bubbletop" and as far as the Crossfire being a better handling car than the Mini, well, I'll get back with you guys on that, like when I hit the Dragon this October.
Don't worry, my feeling aren't hurt and the "man card" is right in my wallet, next to the pic of my cat...wait, the pic of my old 87' Grand National.

Aero Blue, I hope you enjoy your new ride, I'm sure you will, I understand they are a blast to drive.
Stats from Road & Track magazine, Oct. 2005 issue:
Slalom: Crossfire Limited = 69.6 mph
...Mini Cooper S = 69.5 mph
Skidpad, g: Crossfire Limited = 0.89
...Mini Cooper S = 0.87
(let us know how long it takes for you to get use to the "poorer" handling of that FWD Cooper).
Glad to hear that you won't be leaving us, and if you show up at the Hotel for the Woodward Dream Cruise. I'm sure a couple of us will still talk to ya.

Seriously Aero, the mini is a cool car, and has decent power in the supercharged model. I have always liked them and may end up with one myself some day. And no, this 6,1" 250# 3rd degree black belt is not quite ready to surrender his 'man' card just yet!
J/K, it's all in fun...

*My opinion, every @ has one.
I never drove the SRT-6 and I wished I had, but at the time of my lease there was NO deals on them and besides, its only got 2 pedals which IMO is NO sports car.
Sure the power is great, but I live in SEMI and really want something I can drive year round. My beater car is nearing $5K in repair bills in 3 1/2 years of service, enough is enough already and besides that, I hate making payments on something just sitting in the garage. Whomever gets this car will get a good one, trust me on that!

Its silver w/red interior and has the SMG, something I wouldn't have gotten, but the car is unbelievable!
