Default Help me decide

Hello everyone. My name is Hugh and I'm new to this forum. I have a few quick questions about the Crossfire. Is the car reliable? If something minor or major happens to it will it cost a ton to repair? What's it like performance wise? And do people show some attention when your cruising?

Thanks,
Hugh

Welcome to the forum; yes, all of your questions have already been asked and answered on this website... There's a little "SEARCH" button at the top of the page that is VERY helpful.

It is a reliable car. It has the 1998-2004 MB SLK parts in it, so it has been time tested. Depending on what goes wrong repairs could be expensive. Oil change is around $100 bucks. If you purchase the extended warranty, you will not have to bother about the non-standard maintenance.

Performance wise, the SRT6 is awesome and it is very exclusive. Oh yeah, you will enjoy the attention.

I have to say the car is very reliable just by the powerplant it's using. As for the rest of the amenities, I don't think any one knows since they haven't been out that long to get a good idea of which parts go out first. However, since it's a Chrysler, the parts will probably be cheaper because of the Domestic brand of the car even though it uses German parts (don't know why, it just is).

Performance of the standard 3.2 V6 is great. Not an insane amount of power but there are some ways to boost it up. If you want the best bang for the buck, then get an SRT-6 since they're going for about $25K nearly new and there aren't too many cars in that price range with that kind of performance out of the box.

Styling is superb so it will get some attention. There are a decent amount of Xfire's here in FL so it's not like it's a rare car around here but there are more Roadsters than coupes.

I have been reading consumer report and they report
falling reliability. I have been extensively involved with
2 forums. We always report any issues. Personally,
I have not seen any major issues. The largest issue
I have seen is the driver side heated seat has been going
out. All other issue are covered under re-call. Cooling fan,
window seals. Nothing major.

I read Consumer Reports as well, and usually follow their recommendations. They do not recommend any Crossfire or the SLK siblings. Actually, no Mercedes cars are recommended and very few Chryslers are.
I still wonder if I made the right choice with this SRT6. The complexity/rarity of this car really worries me.
Since it won't be driven much, I wasn't too worried about CR's complaints. However, if I was looking for a roadster to drive daily or close to, the 350z would have been my choice.
