2008 HEMI Crossfire!!
2008 HEMI Crossfire!!
Just got off the phone with my friend who's an engineer at Chrysler.
Would you believe that while Chrysler plans to replace 4 Mercedes and Chrysler engines with a new Phoenix V6, they're also shipping the 5.7 liter, 340 HP Hemi V8 to Germany, where it will be installed into the 2008 Crossfire.
Sweet!

Wow...tuff crowd. I should know better than to try the pull the wool over the collective eye's of this forum.
I hope everybody had a great April Fools Day.
On a side note, since it's officially April 2nd. I'm celebrating my 2nd. anniversary with my Crossfire today. Everybody's welcome to some cake and ice cream.
As Sides pointed out, Chrysler did indeed have a 5 year contract with Karmann, and I wouldn't count the Crossfire out just yet. But I do think AMG has assembled the last of the 3.2 Supercharged Mercedes V6 engines we'll ever see. So would it really be such a bad thing if they actually did build a Crossfire with a 340 HP Hemi?
Personally, I would love to hear the sound of an American V8 coming from a Crossfires tail pipes. And with the development of the Challenger, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6 spd. manual tranny to back it up if they did.
I know it's not going to happen, but it's fun to speculate.

I bet a ready to rock "crate" HEMI is cheaper than a rebuilt M-B 3.2 !
I'm getting my tape measure out when I get home...
Making some "long-term" plans for this here little coupe!

Let's see here...
Metric Motors wants $7,350 for a rebuilt 3.2 M-B "longblock".
Mopar gets $ 7,625 for a 5.7 HEMI with sensors, injectors and "stand-alone" engine controller. Complete, ready to run, "plug and play".
