Default ram air intake

does it really increase performance? or would you be just as well off getting k&n air filters?

Do a search on the forum.
This topic has been discussed at great length many times.
You already have a mild 'ram air' system.
You would be advised to replace your filters with K&N filters if you haven't already.

actually you have a stock cold-air intake, but it can be debated that its warm since the tubes aren't insulated and the hot air from the engine compartment warms the air in the tubes.
