Flat Tire, Anyone?
Have only had my Crossfire for a month. Love this car! Anyway, just wondering if anyone has had an experience with a flat tire yet. How well does the tire repair/inflator work that comes with the car?
Thanks...Bill

My goodness you are new at this.
Here's the basics:
You learn to watch the road and come to accept that these tires are delicate.
Do see Discount Tire about there Road Hazard - The day I bought my tire problems went away and I haven't had a puncture since. It's amazing what $125 can buy these days.
• Buy road hazard insurance from Discount Tire.
• Get a AAA membership - Chrysler Roadside Assist won't help.
• Buy a plug kit
• Try not to use the DC Goo in the trunk.
I ruined 4 tires in as many months. I didn't even get home from the dealership before I had a gash in a tire. You'll read many post about this if you do a search.• Get a AAA membership - Chrysler Roadside Assist won't help.
• Buy a plug kit
• Try not to use the DC Goo in the trunk.

Thanks for the info on the tire plug kit. I will look for one this week. How exactly does it work, anyway? What if I get a nail or screw in the tire? Will this kit take care of it?
Thanks again... Bill

It depends. Some things can be plugged - some can't. You'll want to have a pair of pliers in the kit to remove the nail/screw. The tire patch kit will have instructions.
Still your best bet is to do AAA.

Don't be so quick to use the goo. It will ruin the pressure sensor in the wheel and you will have more expenses. First see if you can get to the tire store with the current air pressure. If not, id get a AAA tow, but don't actually get towed, get up on a flat bed. I've seen some people getting towed on the drive wheels and that's not good.
I like the idea of the spare ebay tire. Probably a good idea to keep it in the trunk.

Arcrist,
The Tire Fit that comes with the car is suppose to be safe for the TPM sensors, so the literature states, however, I am not sure how well it works.
Midlife,
Unless there is a huge gash the plugs can fill most flats even those on the side walls can be fixed in an emergency. I have used plugs to patch a 1-1/4" hole in a side wall of my truck when rock punched through out in the middle of no where with no cell phone reception. I am glad you mentioned the pliers since I don't even have a tool kit in the car something I need to add before the next road trip.

Yeah I actually had to fight the dealer over getting me a new one because the previous owner used it and created a huge bubble. That tire fix stuff is no good. Like one of the other guys said in a previous post, the only thing it's good for is plugging that hole to get you home and then you definitely have to buy a new one the next day.
I've stopped to look at a couple Crossfire's a different dealerships and seen several with bubbles in the tires from people using that stuff.

The biggest problem with the tires is getting them replaced. I have lost 2 so far. The first disintegrated in Mar. '04. It took better part of a week to get a new tire. Last spring I managed to get a bubble on the sidewall from hammering a pothole. Took me 4 working days that time. I run the Michelins. The first time was when any service parts were hard to come by. The second time, I don't know the reason. If no one stocks these things in Chicago, I don't know what the guys in the boonies do.
I live in the DC suburbs and when I bought my Goodyear F1's they came from a warehouse in New Jersey. Does anyone know if any other cars use the same tires? I can't believe that our Crossfires use unique tires. Then again, I wouldn't be that surprised if they did.
