Question Recall on headlamps?

Has anyone heard of a recall on the headlamps in the '05? I bought a limited roadster 2 weeks ago and they replaced them but didn't do anything else right so I gave it back. Went to another dealer and now own a SRT-6 (much happier ) but confused because they said there was no recall. Any comments on this is much appreciated.

Welcome Firegirl!!!

I haven't heard of recall on the headlights, but there are a couple of TSBs concerning condensation in the headlight assembly...which, if the steps outlined don't correct the problem, they will replace the whole assembly.

Congrats on the ride. I know you will love it!!!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new XFire!

It is great to see more women XFire owners who are also joining our forum.

Talking Re: Excited new owner w/questions

I had the condensation problem with mine and the dealer hosed it up. No pun intended firegirl. The original dealer should have taken off the outer lenses and cleaned them before putting everything back together. Now I have this stain in the top quarter of the headlight lenses where the fog accumulated... That was the last time I went to that dealer and now always go to the Chrysler, Mercedes, BMW dealer in Yakima, Wa. The stain really isn't that noticeable, but I see it each time I wash the car. By the way, welcome to the forum!!

Thanx so much for the info. Condensation is exactly what the problem is! I bought the car from a dealer but I'm the first real owner so I couldn't figure out how they got that way. I hope to find a good place to take the car here. We have plenty of dealers but not many good service advisors that know how to deal w/ the Xfire. I appreciate the welcome. Have a feeling I will be in here way to often!!!

There are 2 fixes for the TSB on the headlamp condensation problem, the first fix is to install a vent kit to both headlamps. The second fix, if the problem still exists is to replace the fogged headlamp or both headlamps. In my situation the vent kit did not remedy the problem, and both of my headlamps were replaced twice under warranty before the problem was fixed.

Default Thanx for the welcome/info

New to the forum, tried to reply but not sure if everyone got it! So my bad if this is not the way to do it. (please inform me if it's not) I so appreciate the info. going to see the dealer today armed with the ammo I need now to get this fixed. Also the brake assembly under the wing is being replaced. Thanx again for the welcome from everyone, I already feel like my car and I belong to something much bigger than ourselves.

May I suggest that you google AMG and Mercedes-AMG to get a brief understanding that you have a very rare and powerful car that is hand built in limited numbers and race tuned. Of your looking for go fast mods just search the SRT section...you'll find that new mufflers is not the top mod...

Welcome Firegirl...

and

+1... I am starting to believe that it is a 12 sec car stock... i just ran 13.06 in 100% stock form and on the not so great continental tires.

Default More excited than before

Hey guys, I understand exactly what kind of car I bought. I have been a Mopar lover for a long time and now I have the perfect combo between class and fast. Hearing about actual times for a run is very cool. Read that 0-60 was 5.1 and the 1/4 mile was 13.1 but great to see someone is trying to test theirs out. Why buy a fast car and not go fast? Buy a roadster and not put the top down every chance you get? About the exhaust-this is a performance car and I want it to sound like one. Thinking about Borla.

On any of the other SRT's i would agree... but this one is a different breed... I would suggest looking over on the Merc Benz forums to see what are they going with the AMG's...

As for driving it like it was meant to be driven... I agree...
