Angry California fuel sucks!

Well I've been watching the gas gauge lately, and what with premium costing about $4/gal here in LA.
I immediately saw the oil companies switch to summer blended fuel two weeks ago, when I checked out my mpg, I was averaging 23 mpg last month, now I'm squeaking out 18 mpg, WTF!!!

Anybody else watch you mpg and see similar results here in California? I know Arizona has some high quality fuels compared to us. It really sucks having to pay almost $4, but it really hurts when you have to pay more and get less...

We Still have good fuel here in Washington, why don't you pull stakes and head our way! Lots less people and less XFs too! But, we just don't have the Arnold...

  13. OK OK - Great Weather (you can keep all that WA rain. That's why they put roofs on your outdoor stadiums)
Find a pilot with an airport pass - and blend 75/25 avgas (100 Octane low lead) and pump premium.

OH YEAA!!

california is way too crowded and competitive now to really enjoy all that is on your list, with the over population its really a pain in the *** to get anywhere, let alone afford much.

As for the 100LL, I have access to my local airport, but will check prices tomorrow, I love the fact that there is no road tax on the stuff, hopefully its on par with local stations.

Well, ignore the rain, it goes away after a while, and we don't have all the fires like you do in California. Not much I can say about the babes!! That brings me to my next point. Of all days of this to happen, it just had to happen yesterday. I was going to a funeral in Portland Oregon, driving my Crossfire, and got booby flashed. It was real nice but kind of tough on an old guy like me. Sure did put a big smile on my face!! Made it kind of hard to get out of the car though... LOL!

Just checked the airport, they want $4.60

I'll have to try it out and see what my mileage is... damn no wonder no one flies airplanes anymore.

Does anyone know the max. octane you could run in the Crossfire without harming anything? I can get 101 octane racing fuel. Would you have to mix it with lower octane? Would power or mileage be better on the high octane?
Just curious.

In the U.S. at lower elevations any gasoline with an octane rating (R+M)/2 higher than 92 is quite harmful... to your wallet. There isn't going to be any benefit running higher octane fuels. The biggest difference you will notice is that you will be paying a lot more for the fuel.

I didn't know you were here in LA ! Heck, I would have invited you out to the track last weekend and you could have paid $6 per gallon...

well, i filled up for the 2nd time since buying my car and i averaged 26.7 mpg from that last tank. i'm pretty happy about that since i've been stuck in traffic alot and i have a heavy foot at times. i bet with more open roads 30 is possible.

i'm in texas houston area. i had to recalculate it before posting and there is no mistake on my math unless the gas station is pumping more gas than the pumps claim.
