Default Moving On

After a lot of thought and a little luck, I found a Honda Dealer that was willing to give me $20,000 on a trade in for a new Honda Civic EX with Si Wheels. I really loved my Crossfire. I actually polished it the day before I traded it in. That's how fast the decision was. There was an ad in the local paper yesterday for an 06' limited for $18,600. I was shocked when the Honda Dealer offered $20,000. The way things are going with Chrysler I just couldn't refuse. It's been great fun and a learning experience on this forum and I will really miss coming here. Good luck to all of you and I hope there is a positive turn around at Chrysler so all your cars get the credit they deserve.

WOW! A Honda Civic - I never see any on the road.

Where are they made? How Much? The Killer hood design looks a lot like my Crossfire.

Man I'm Jealous. Have fun!

Aptiva, that was an outstanding trade-in for your car. (I guess the Honda dealer doesn't read the newspaper).
I kind of understand why you did it, what with the uncertainty with Chrysler, and the current fuel situation.
That was a cool idea getting an EX with Si wheels, now it won't take much to at least make it look like an Si, but you don't have to use premium gas, and you'll get better gas mileage.
I wish I could afford to trade my '02 Civic in for the same car that you purchased. I'm sure you will enjoy your new car. But you may have to go thru "Rehab" to get over your Crossfire withdrawal.
Good Luck.

Oh yeah, don't be a stranger. Just because ya don't own a Crossfire anymore, doesn't mean you lost your welcome around here.

best of luck with it ... my neighbor just returned his new civic after months of transmission problems, rattling interior panels, horrible gas mileage and traded it in for a jeep compass.

hopefully it was a early build thing and the rest of them turned out ok... just as with any other car i take it.

I am sorry man if this offends you man... because your car exchange offends me... I would not trade my crossfire for a lifetime of free civics provided every year...

I do not know how people go from crossfire to something like sebring, civic, or a jeep, if I was to exchange my crossfire I would do it as a noticeable upgrade to something like an SL AMG, Porsche 911 turbo, Aston Martin Vantage, or something along those lines.. and if I was in no position to upgrade I would never downgrade or just do in exchange.. unless I had a HUGE financial problem suddenly...

Especially at the price crossfires are going for today I think selling one and purchasing another vehicle is insane... unless you are in deep need of more space or just prefer a larger automobile...

You traded a crossfire to a civic at what gain?
- You lost exclusivity big time
- You lost mercedes quality
- You lost performance
- You lost the good looks
- You lost German Status...
- And what did you gain? Better gas mileage, cheaper parts, and fuel?

Again I state I do not mean this in an offensive way, I say what I am saying in a concerned way about the exchange you made and I would love to convince you that this choice is mistake...

Everyone has personal preferences so don't knock him 'till you've walked in his shoes... er, driven in his car.

I agree with Bobs, if that is what Aptiva wanted, great for him.

Sidez I know by your posts you are very passionate about your Crossfire, as am I. I feel about my SRT6 probably the same as you do about yours. I have no intention of parting with it any time soon. We have an empty nest and the other vehicle is a hybrid-SUV. So no problems carrying things or people.

One thing I do wonder about is how much the Honda dealer overcharged for that Civic? Just did a lookup on CarsDirect.com and saw that the Civic EX runs in the $18K range. If Aptiva got the $20K trade on something like that, did he get money back? I would find that hard to believe. So they must have jacked up the price on the Honda. Maybe charged $5K for the SI wheels?

The only other explanation would be that the dealer was stoned or stupid!

Hope Aptiva lets us all know.

Just wrote in to tell you I was leaving the forum. If I thought I was going to get beat up, I would have left quietly. Sorry I didn't ask for permission to do what I needed to do. To all the others, thanks, it's been great fun and good luck! ...Bob

Aptiva if your happy were happy for ya even if we can't understand. The only thing I would trade for would be a srt but thats me, as for the gas mileage issue I don't care much when I'm driving my xfire its the last thing on my mind really. If someone wanted to buy my car for what I paid for it about a year ago I'd say ...No deal Howie...but thats me and a few others I see.
Aptiva you will miss her maybe from time to time you might take one out for a test drive for old time sake. Best of luck!

I wish you luck in the future. I can't really knock the Honda. My daughter has an '05 Civic and she loves it. I think she loves the car more than her husband... I found that out when he put a dent in the car! LOL

Recently I did just the opposite of Aptiva and sold my 2005 RSX Type S. That left me with only my TSX, which is still fun to drive, but has too many doors. I bought my 2006 XFire on Ebay during the current fire sale for a song. Both the RSX and the XFire are legitimate fun to drive cars. The RSX was more refined mechanically and got significantly better gas mileage. The XFire, however, is both a unique driving experience and has the most striking exterior styling of anything south of 100K. The RSX was fun to drive. The XFire is FUN to drive!

Some people take the car thing way too personally. Their car rocks, and everything else sucks for one reason or another. (People get this way about nations, too, but that's another subject).

Honda makes great cars - the engines are so smooth and silky. They really do engines right. I owned a 1997 Civic HX and a 2000 Civic Si. Both were good cars (Si cool but a bit overrated, IMHO, but still fun). I wasn't sorry I bought either one. Enjoy it.

Similar transition for me. Sold our '97 Prelude a little over a year ago, this year picked up the SRT6. Still have our 4 door Accord V6 though.
