Default The Noise Is Gone!

(this post is an extension of my last thread "Humming noise when driving over 50 mph!?)

After a slight mishap at the dealer where they ordered an engine instead of the differential my car needed to have replaced... the work is finished. I picked my car up this morning from the dealer, paid my $100 deductible and headed to work with my new differential. Accelerating on the Dulles Toll Road the car was unusually silent, no humming or gear whine coming from the back of my car. 60...70...80...90... nothing but the sound of the engine and air rushing past.

I was very pleased with the help and service I received at Koons Tysons Chrysler. I would highly recommend them to anyone with an XFire in the Northern Virginia area. They are a no BS, large scale operation with professional staff.

If any of you who are experiencing gear whine while you are at speed coming from the differential, this sound is not normal despite what other DC mechanics and service managers might tell you. I can't say I am pleased with the service from DC because I actually went to another dealer first (Manassas Chrysler) and was disappointed. But Tyson's Chrysler has really impressed me and best of all... no more gear whine.

Thanks man! Good to hear it worked out. Did they tell you anything besides just replacing the differential? Did they have to replace any other parts in the driveline? I definitely have to get mine in at some point and i want to be pretty specific in telling them the problem so they can fix it right the first time...

Nope looking at the receipt this morning all that was charged for "parts" was differential and lubricant.

I believe the bill was something like: new differential and lubricant was $3,500 and labor was something like $254. Just goes to show the extended warranty is worth it.

Hey, happy to hear things worked out for you!!! Been there and done it...

I have a question for you. Why did you use an extended warranty? The drive train warranty should be 7/70.
