Default FSS Oil Check question

Key on, press the left button twice within 2 seconds: nothing but the mileage until Service A. No Oil level report. What did I do wrong?

You have to wait at least 5 minutes after you've turned off the engine before the oil icon will appear.

(by the way, there's another thread on this same subject going on right now).

If you haven't been sitting for 5 minutes or so the oil can will not appear.

Well I have the same issue, since I did my first oil change all I get is a double wrench and miles to the next service but no oil level like I used to get. Any ideas?

I had the same issue – patience patience patience.

For accurate results perform after engine is warm – mine says “Ok” when engine is warm – overfill when engine is cold.

1) Turn engine off
2) Wait 5 – 10 minutes
3) Turn key to on position
4) Wait wait wait
5) Oil Icon appears where trip mileage indicator is
6) Press **** left of speedo twice in two sec.
7) Read indication

I was always to impatient or had not let the XF sit for 10 minutes after running.

It takes a little finesse to get it reset, I think that is why the Techs never do it.
