A TPMS only in 2008? Cerberus as a "new suitor" rather than the owner? Someone should do better fact-checking at AutoBlog (or at Automotive News if it was the source for the story).
The crossfire is a dead duck, there will be none made for '08. that story is BS.
If anything they might reskin the Demon for the Chrysler market and call it the Crossfire.

Don't know how accurate this actually is. Their info on the '06 and '07 models sales looks wrong considering the '06 just recently went on sale here in the US and I think the only '07s have been going to employees.
I just might have to trade my '05 on an '08 when they come out so I can get some of those new fangled tire pressure monitors...Oh wait! they have been on the Crossfire since introduced as an '04!
Love the comments by those who have never had or even driven one and wouldn't know a quality vehicle if they were ever exposed to one. Sure glad the "rental car" guy based his opinion on a Crossfire SUV (everyone knows ALL rentals qualify as off-roaders).

Here's a slightly different take from MotorAuthority:
Monday 2 July 2007

An updated version of the Chrysler Crossfire will return next year despite previous claims that the car’s brief five year run was coming to an end. The 2008 model will receive only minor updates including a tire pressure monitoring system, with the first cars expected to roll off the production line this summer.
Chrysler did stop taking orders for the car in ’06 because of rising inventory levels but according to a spokeswoman, production never ceased. Sales in the US fell to 8,216 last year, down from the high of 14,665 in 2005, reports Automotive News.
Heavy discounting has seen the average Crossfire price less customer cash reach $27,526, down from the $34,495 price tag when the car debuted back in 2004. Still, Chrysler is happy with its sales results for the Crossfire and is keen to add a refreshed model to the lineup. “We’ve been outselling the Audi TT,” said Chrysler Crossfire engineer Allan Mecca. “In our mind, it’s meeting expectations.”
Well, if the model is "meeting expectations," then why hasn't Chrysler supported it better? Audi promotes the TT heavily worldwide, so the comparison is even more puzzling. It's possible that Chrysler just has a death wish, but I suspect it's more likely a case of outright incompetence and stupidity. If the car will be around for another year, though, perhaps Cerberus will handle it better...
Chrysler Crossfire not dead yet

Maybe Chrysler is repositioning the car. They're definitely selling better at $25 - $30K than they ever did at $35 - $40K. Perhaps Chrysler is going to start selling them as RX-8 and 350Z competitors instead of as Z4 and Boxster competitors.
Yet again yesterday crowds of admirers gathered around my car to ooohhh and ahhh. Nobody knew what it was. The Crossfire was supposed to be a HALO car. It was supposed to generate excitement and interest in the brand. How was it supposed to do that without promotion? Nobody ever saw the Xfire's sexy lines on a TV commercial. That may have been a good place to start. People gush over my car almost daily, but Chrysler couldn't sell it? It's just sad. This car deserved much better.

I just picked up an '04 crossfire last week and I love it. I was wondering where did you find the "Power by mercedes" badge for your engine? I would like to get one as well. Thank you.

so in other words, they don't think they'll be able to sell all the left over '06s they have in '07, so they're going to push it out another year in hopes of selling them out in '08?

Pretty misinformed misleading article.
Sure they'll still be selling Crossfires in 2008 but they'll be '07 VIN code models left over. Just like I purchased a new '06 in March 2007. I can't imagine Cerebreus extending the contract with Karmann extra years when there is a backlog of unsold '07s waiting for the '06s to be moved out. On the other hand since Chrysler gets all the existing inventory as part of the "divorce" then M-Benz has already paid for the all existing unsold Crossfires. Why not just "blow 'em out" then. Raise some cash flow and increase showroom traffic at the same time. It was an ad from my local Jeep dealer offering '06 Crossfires for less than 20k. That did the trick for me !
I wasn't even in the market for a sports car but damn, that's a "no brainer"...twenty grand for a brand new Mercedes sports car with an exotic designer body...
Here's the check Johnny.
Like the guy at work said, "that's what I paid for my Hyundai..."
