What do you guys think of the new SLK?
Have seen a few on the road recently and also was checking one out in the parking lot of Advanced Auto the other day. Its a completely different chassis correct? Overall I love the styling of it. The SLK our XFires are based after doesn't do it for me. The boxy corners were unique but the styling was almost "bland". I definitely see the SLR McLaren in the styling approach of the new SLK model. The HUGE MB badge on the grille is almost overkill... but hey isn't that why people by benz's in the first place? Would love to hear your guys input. Just thought the Mercedes ancestry our car shares with the SLK made this post relevant.
I think they are hideous.
The front end looks like a certain species of monkey (don't have a pic on hand, but I've posted it before).
The previous SLK didn't do it for me either.

the first gen SLK was girly...the current one is a step away from girly, but MB still has a way to go with it.
the C-Class hatchback is kind of a chick car too.

I would not buy it or consider it... it is not a bad looking car, but as someone said it is not all that... and When I buy something I like it to be the best for example I would not buy a benz without it being amg or a "chrysler" without it being SRT... that is just me...
I would buy an SL55 though...

I see what you guys are saying. I love the XFire's styling much more than the SLK's. However just to play devil's advocate I have heard so many people describe the Crossfire the exact same way as you all just have the SLK. I just thought the McLaren spin off hood and grill was cool. The one I saw was in black with black interior it didn't come off as feminine.
I would never give up the trunk of my coupe though!

It's funny how more horsepower can make a car once deemed "girly" into one deemed "manly". Again playing devil's advocate but our Xfires are underpowered in the same way the SLK350 is but my car is most definitely not "girly".
The SRT-6 also adds new rims and a new rear spoiler. It's not that I don't agree but I am just stating the similarities in base model verse the turbo model.
I like the big brakes and the engine in the SLK55 that's about it. It seems like it's too short in the back, making it look awkward and out of balance, strange looking car from the side.
I like the styling more than the old model at least. 0-60 in 6.1 seconds for both auto and manual according to MB with 228 hp for the base SLK. One thing that makes the XFire much more stylish than the SLK and many other sport coupes is the dual exhaust centered together in the rear, much like a Porsche. I don't know why more sport coupes in this price range don't have this feature, its much more attractive and sporty IMO than having two exhausts separated. Depends on the car as well.

i think they are very nice cars, with extremely nice styling, and very nice interior...
the slk55's do look better, but the slk350 is still a very nice looking ride.
they current gen slk's, look better than the sl's, imo.

When I was shopping for a Mercedes Benz I first looked at the SLK, however the salesman said those were driven mainly by women. So I ended up buying an Mercedes E500.
