Crossfire does 135 MPH on Autobahn (VIDEO)

220 KMH (which I calculated to be around 137 mph) with the top down. Pretty cool. Some of the music in the video may not be SFW, just a heads up.

Nice video. That's nothing, I hit 140 mph on the 405 fwy along side an EVO8, then his rev limiter cut in and he shut down. I know it was stupid and I'll never do that again, but it was quite the adrenaline rush.
I hit 200 km (125) last week on a 622 south of St Francis on the way to Warburg, straight road, good pavement, only have to worry about killing myself!. As this old "fart " gets braver I will try to see if the rev limiter kicks in. Way back in '77 drove a Dodge van that went like SNOT and I found myself doing 120 mph, never had a problem with speeding tickets, but now I worry when I'm 20 k over! CHANGING WORLD.
For you Brits, I drove a '69 Mach 1 Mustang over sharp pass on the M6 @ 132 mph in 1974!

Nice shot.
The old '04 hit 160 mph last Friday on A62 (Autobahn), averaged around 145 mph for 24 minutes, not the first or last time. The car corners excellent at high speed, but the brakes don't like slowing down quickly (without melting) so you have to watch for traffic. Imported to Germany in Jan '07 haha, I still have the original US shipment papers from when it originally left Germany. Fun car!!!
I went 145 mph far west of Chicago on I-88 and if this '04 coupe had wings it would have been airborne all the way to Iowa. Without the wings it was sound to the ground !!
Kiwi... get some better brake fluid (Motul 600 is what I use) and Race compound pads (Porterfield R4 is what I use)... this will keep your brakes from 'melting'
Ever since the change in those two items plus the cryogenically treated rotors... my stopping power doesn't fade at all.
Hope that helps. Cheers!

I agree the brakes are a weak point at high speed. I was planning to upgrade my LTD to the SRT brakes but I may go a different route after reading MMZ comments. I'm now considering crossdrilled rotors and Brembo calipers if I can find them for XF or SLK.

Not so much the size of the pads as the compound and the fluid. Mine was easily boiled at it's first track outing.
SRT6 brakes would be more than enough if you put the right pads on them. Just ask HDDP.

I have hit 130...pretty crazy and I thought I was pushing the limits enough on a two lane road. Was stupid, but if I were back on the road I would probably have to do it again. I really wish we had an autobahn equivalent over here. You would have to be prescreened though before you would be allowed to drive on it.
