Default Last straw!

Sorry guys and gals but I have to VENT!

A few months ago the "light outage indicator" illuminated. After looking at the lights I determined that the right rear tail/brake light was burnt. I went to the dealership and ordered a new tail light as they had none in stock. After a couple of days I replaced it and was pleasantly surprised when I was only charged $3.21. Ever since then, the indicator would come on everytime you pressed on the brake peddle. The manual says that if a tail light is out, it will come on when you press the brake and stay on. Well, it would go off when you took your foot off the brake. Hummm... I looked several times at all the lights from the glovebox to the hood and could never find an error. Inspection time is this month so I decided I had better get on the stick and find the defective light because the peoples republic of NJ would fail me for the indicator. I went back to the dealership and ordered another one. Once again they had none in stock so I figured they must have given me an incorrect one because since there are not a lot of crossfires out there they couldn't have sold the last batch they ordered. I got tired of waiting so I go down to the local Manny, Moe, and Jacks and get a pack of 2 cheap'os. Much to my surprise but the one the dealership gave me was a single filament and I needed a double (of course, tail and brake) but dummy me I never questioned the first bulb from the dealer and even worse, when the new bulb came in, it also was single.

I have owned Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth all my life and loved them but I can't put up with these incompetent dealers and their unwillingness to service their own products.

Whew! Thanks, I feel better now.

P.S. Funny thing is the cruise control worked when the lights were off, but when you turned them on, it would not work. When you turned the lights on, the indicator would illuminate and remain on until you shut off the car.

Why don't you just pick up a new bulb at your local auto parts store? They're pretty common.

Bobs, if you noticed in my post I did buy them at my local store and that's where I found out the dealer had been giving me incorrect bulbs.

Since you're in NJ, for future reference get your parts from chryslerpartsdirect.com this is actually the guys who own Franklin Sussex Auto Mall. Ask for Lenny, he's the wholesale parts Mgr. and a friend of mine...

PS: the entire US parts warehouse / distribution center for the Crossfire is located in NJ...

I buy and service my cars at Teterboro Chrysler Jeep in NJ.

I think dealership experiences will vary as much as anything else, sometimes even when you're talking to different people about the same dealership.

I've not had any problems with my dealership both sales and service. I just ordered my 8th Chrysler product (a loaded '08 300C AWD) from them and I have a good collaborative relationship with their service department.

Perhaps you misunderstood... chryslerpartsdirect.com Lenny, has been working with me since late 2004 with parts for the Crossfire. They were the ones who originally discovered the issues with the OEM parts catalog numbers and contacted DC to rectify many of the problems... You can ignore my recommendations... I really don't give a ****.

HDDP

Thanks for the info. I'll put it to good use. I'm sure the mistakes in the parts catalog will never be corrected because it seems that all of Chrysler from the top down have given up on the xfire. From my first oil change in '03 when they put in the 5 quarts cause the manual was wrong to no more crossfire trained tech at my dealership, they have gotten more and more disinterested.

I'm not giving up on the crossfire, only the dealer here.
